Caesars Entertainment Announcing Long Needed Room Renovations at Various Properties

We asked one of our readers if they’d like to contribute an article, and he did. Marty is one of our fans and is as Vegas-obsessed as we are. Now we turn things over to BigAZMarty…

Several of the Caesars Entertainment properties are getting room renovations per CEO Frissora as announced before or at 3rd Quarter Financial Results Nov 9, 2016:

“The company is upgrading hotel rooms in Las Vegas, including Planet Hollywood, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, and is renovating Caesars Palace’s oldest tower.”

The upgrades, he said, would mean higher room rates at those resorts.

First up, as previously announced, the old Roman Tower is being renamed Julius Tower and has been closed since mid-September with a January 2016 opening. That’s $75 million to make a 567 room tower have 587 upgraded rooms. Renovated rooms are expected to be ready for overnight guests starting Jan. 1 and go for $149 a night on average — about $20 to $30 more than before.

The next three were announced but did not have any photo renderings and may be a refreshing of sorts.  Remodels at Harrah’s were initially announced to be the entire Carnival Tower (~600 rooms) nearest to the parking garage. The Mardi Gras tower was renovated several years ago …that’s “recently” in Caesars terms (the Roman Tower’s last remodel was 15 years ago). Paris and Planet Hollywood announcements were a fraction of their room totals (possible comped high roller rooms or maybe suites, perhaps?).

In my opinion, it just makes it a little harder to get any comped room upgrades with the $20 sandwich trick if the lowest cost rooms are now more expensive.
