Pass the Mic Live!

Hip Hop Legends to “Pass The Mic Live!”

DJ Cassidy will bring his beloved “Pass The Mic Live!” to Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in July 2024 for an exclusive three-week residency starring New York native Hip Hop icons Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh. The shows will be held on July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20, 2024, with all performances scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. The show will be produced in conjunction with music mogul, Steve Rifkind, founder of Loud and SRC Records.

Ja Rule (who I haven’t been a fan of since his beef started with 50-Cent) had hits such as: “Always on Time” “Livin’ It Up” “I’m Real (Murder Remix)” “Mesmerize” and “Put It on Me”. Fat Joe’s hits include “Lean Back,” “What’s Luv?” “Make It Rain,” “All The Way Up,” “We Thuggin'”. Fun fact: Autocorrect is strugglin’ with thuggin’. Slick Rick’s hits include: “Children’s Story,” “La Di Da Di,” “Teenage Love,” “Hey Young World,” “The Show”. And finally Doug E. Fresh’s hits include: “The Show,” “La Di Da Di,” “Keep Risin’ to the Top,” “All The Way To Heaven,” “Play This Only At Night”.

So unfortunately, DJ Cassidy feels he can liken this gathering of talent to the Rat Pack. People really need to stop likening their group to the Rat Pack. There was only one Rat Pack. Your hip hop group, rock group, college band, singing ensemble, pet circus and/or knitting circle is not the Rat Pack or similar to them. But here’s the nonsense they included in the press release. At this point I have to look away.

“Just as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop united in Las Vegas to form the Rat Pack, one of the greatest shows of all time, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, and I will unite to create an experience that will go down in Las Vegas history,” explains DJ Cassidy. “In the great tradition of Liberace, Elvis Presley, Wayne Newton, and Siegfried & Roy, we will redefine showmanship in ways The Strip hasn’t witnessed since the days of The Sands and The International. Every night will be a unique one time only event, black tie (optional) of course.”

That was rather nauseating. Almost like back in the day when Matt Goss started his residency and part of his PR was “The UK’s response to Frank Sinatra”. Yeah if it took 50 years to respond to Frank Sinatra, there’s a reason for that. Anywho, Citi is the official presale card of “DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic Live!
