Baz Returns: Star Crossed Love

“For The Record: Baz” is getting renamed to “Baz: Star Crossed Love” with a new venue.

Baz: Star Crossed Love is the new name of the show to take place at the Palazzo Theater. The show is presently casting per this listing at Backstage.

From the listing:

Casting “BAZ: Star Crossed Love’ a 360 degree theatrical concert celebration of famed Director Baz Luhrmann.Synopsis: Shakespeare’s original star-crossed lovers, Romeo & Juliet, have found a new home on the Las Vegas Strip in the magically transformed Palazzo Theater. This heart pumping, soul-stirring soundtrack mash-up features music from “Romeo + Juliet,” “Moulin Rouge!,” “The Great Gatsby,” ‘Strictly Ballroom,” “Australia,” and “La Boheme.” The cast features a stunning assembly of vocal acrobats, actors and dancers performing an epic setlist that includes “Back To Black,” “Lady Marmalade”, “Your Song,” “When Doves Cry”, and many more. Part rock concert, part drama, part nightclub and all spectacular.

Star Crossed Love

The description is very telling; The Palazzo Theater is being transformed for this show which will have 360-degree seating. Think “Mystere” (kinda) or “Absinthe” when it comes to seating. It’s the same theater that hosted Frank: The Man, but, re-seated. The change in name is because its old, For The Record: Baz,  was confusing to club goers. With the new name and an actual theater, this musical may make the most out of its second chance.

Rehearsal begins May 17; opens June 25; contract runs 6 months in Las Vegas, NV.

  1. Awesome! I missed out seeing it in it’s last incarnation, but I am back in Vegas in September which works out perfect.

  2. OMG – Everyone MUST see this show! I just hope that they don’t “re-tool” it too much, as it was almost perfect before. Also hope that they get some of the same performers. It was literally the best Vegas show that I have ever seen. I know I am prejudiced, being a huge fan of Baz’s work, but truly it was great… I happened to catch the previous show the final weekend, and loved it so much, I bought another ticket for the next day.
