Elvis Presley Way

Elvis Presley Way to be New Name of Riviera Blvd.

Riviera Blvd is getting a new name to coincide with the implosion of the Riviera. Elvis Presley Way, named for the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” will run from Las Vegas Blvd to the Westgate. The valet area of Westgate, to be more exact.

The idea to rename this stretch of road belongs to David Siegel, proprietor of the Westgate Las Vegas.  Clark Country Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani said Siegel’s representatives met with his planning committee to start the renaming process in an article in Review Journal. It is Siegel’s thought that the new name would bring traffic to Westgate, the former Las Vegas Hilton, formerly The International, where Elvis had his comeback residency. Also, it was to help showcase the Elvis collection on loan to Westgate from Graceland.

If you’re curious, Elvis Presley Way won’t be much to look at. Here’s a pic from Greg C:

SO….about the Elvis exhibit I mentioned, that exhibit is now closed per Norm Clarke:

No specifics have been announced as to the return of the collection. As far as the pending implosion (possibly more than one for the Riviera considering lot size and structure count), the LVCVA has been quiet. However, the bidding process is expected to end in March.
