Room Review: Harrah’s Valley Tower King

Michael Movestro Checks Into a Valley Tower King Room at Harrah’s Las Vegas

A few months back Harrah’s renovated their Carnaval South tower with brand new rooms and later, a new name: Valley Tower. Since then I have been trying to get a tour of one of these rooms for an article. Scheduling conflicts between myself and the PR folks at Harrah’s got in the way of a more timely article, until now. For my stay at Harrah’s at the end of October, I had booked a Mardi Gras room (usually my choice on a solo trip). I asked for a tour of a new Valley Tower King Room, and there was again a scheduling conflict. Adrienne, the PR contact, was going to be out of town during my stay. So instead of my tour, Adrienne upgraded my Mardi Gras stay to Valley Tower. Thanks, Adrienne!

So, what’s this about a new tower? Well, the tower isn’t “new,” but the tower is renovated. The Valley Tower is one-half of the Carnaval Tower, formerly known as Carnaval South. You can see in the image below where the Carnaval  tower connects to the Valley Tower, and the difference between them (Valley Tower to the right):

Valley Tower

The updated/renovated/renamed Valley Tower has remodeled rooms with updated furnishings and color palettes, focusing on a blue/purple mix. If I were to compare this room to another room in the Caesars family, I would compare it to the GO Rooms at the Flamingo. Mostly because of the bathroom floor, sliding door and vanity/sink are virtually the same (sans Flamingo’s TV in the mirror) as the bathroom in the GO room. Also, there was an in-room coffee maker, the same kind from the Flamingo Go Rooms, with Cafe Valet Coffee.

The keycard has no stripes, so instead of inserting your keycard you simply touch it to the round silver disc on your door and hold it there until the light changes.

Valley Tower

The bed was extremely comfortable, the view I had was of the High Roller and I hear there are strip views as well. The stay was quiet, I was at the end of the hall. However, the walk to the elevator wasn’t the neverending journey as one would expect from the end of the hall at other properties.

You know what to here, below.

Although there was one window, there was a decent amount of natural light. Also, scoring extra points in my book, was the fact that there is free reign over the thermostat. At the Flamingo, I would set it to 69 degrees, but it would lock at 71 degrees. So I would perform a manual override (via the instruction manual I googled online) to set it to 69 degrees and turn off the motion activated function. That was not a problem at the Valley Tower King room. If you want 69 degrees, you’ll get 69 degrees. I returned to a cool room, not a room that had to be re-cooled from a hot mess on entry. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay, Harrah’s has plenty of casino action as well as food options. The Fulton Street Food Hall was a stop every morning for coffee, and every night for late food and my nightly Vegas Gatorade (helps rejuvenate while you sleep). This was my view:

Will I be comfortable in a Mardi Gras room after staying in a Valley Tower King? Probably. I don’t spend much time in my room. However, when I want something that’s a step (or two) above, the Valley Tower King will be one of my options to consider.

  1. OMG!!!! I stayed here in July but had a 2 bed suite with living room, tub etc. It was AHHH-MAZING!!! Shared with 2 friends for a birthday and got a sweet deal so splitting the cost amongst 3 ladies wasn’t a big deal. The bathroom was great. The 2 sinks came in handy. At first we got a regular room and knew we were in for trouble once we got off the elevator and saw we had to walk to the left. What a difference. We went right back downstairs and got the newer room. Best decision EVER!! Beds were heaven.

  2. I’ve only stayed at Harrah’s once and it was with two friends. It is great for a crash pad for a group of guys. However, this room looks MUCH nicer than the room we had. Glad they are updating.

    1. It was a nice stay but honestly, if I’m traveling solo, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for one of these rooms. I spend little time in my room as is, so I’ll probably stay in a Mardi Gras room like I usually do. When I travel with the wife then that changes things. Though for my birthday next year I have my eye on a Cosmopolitan Fountain View Terrace.

  3. I stayed here last month, and didn’t like the sliding glass door for the bathroom.. not too much privacy if you are with someone other than a significant other. Also the shower was a walk-in with no door.. so it got a bit chilly when you combined this with the low water pressure shower. One other strange thing was the beds only had a sheet on them..no blanket or comforter. There was one blanket in the closet, but we had to call down for another.

    1. Hi Jon, you a low water pressure in your shower? Mine was intense! I was surprised at how great it was, not sure why it was different for you. Yeah, the blanket is in the closet, and there’s only one. However, if you had two queens there definitely should have been two blankets in there. I think because you can adjust the thermostat to your liking, they make the blanket optional. I too was surprised it was in the closet, but the bed sure was comfy.

    2. That’s right. The shower was weird and it was chilly. We did have to keep the sliding door closed. I guess it would be awkward if you were not with a significant other as stated. Again I stayed with friends so we didn’t mind but def would like the option of a door.

  4. My Cousin and I stayed in one of the brand new executive suites about 2 weeks after they finished their renovations. It was amazing and the best part is it was “free”. Sweet talking the nice ladies at the check in with the $20 dollar technique can do wonders. I really like Harrahs for their rooms and mostly for the location and will be looking to stay there again in the future.

  5. Wow, those remodeled rooms are much nicer than the rooms I’ve had there in the past. I may have to consider staying at Harrah’s again on one of my next trips to Vegas. I like that panoramic shot of the hallway showing the differences between the updated section and a non-updated one. That non-updated hallway looks very familiar to me. On one of my past visits to Harrah’s, as I was waiting for the elevator I noticed how cool the long hallway looked so I snapped this quick photo there of my friend, who happens to be a professional model. https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3955/15588984705_5f59a90b4b_c.jpg

  6. We stayed in a King valley tower room last week. Great water pressure – We loved it! We didn’t have a coffee maker though. We also missed the vanity mirror in the bathroom which so many strip hotels have,
Overall we enjoyed the room – this was our first stay at Harrah’s LV. As you stated the bed was very comfortable. Thanks for a great overview!

    1. No problem! The vanity is in the bedroom area, if you look at the image that shows the TV, the vanity is to the right. The bathroom mirror sure is well lit.

      1. Thank you, Michael – Some rooms must have it and some not. Unfortunately ours didn’t. We were in room 16-002. It was still a great room and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Harrah’s. It was the only casino where we had some nice wins during our trip. Two $1000 wins within 10 minutes…It was quite exciting!
