Review: Jokesters Comedy Club at the D

Hard_3 reviews Jokesters Comedy Club: Down and Dirty at The D…

They say that laughter is the best medicine, well if that is the case I got a full dose last Sunday when I attended the Jokesters Comedy Club at The D on Fremont St. The D bills the show as “Down and Dirty at the D” a show not for the easily offended. It’s racy, raunchy, and definitely dirty!” The show is on the second floor of the casino in The D Showroom. I found the setup to be similar to Purple Reign when that was playing there. The doors open at 10 p.m. and the show starts at 10:30 p.m. The D website states that once the doors are open, “there is music, drink specials, games, and giveaways.”

I had all intentions of checking this out, but I ended up getting on a heater at the craps table at Binion’s, so I showed up just a couple minutes before show time. When my wife and I showed up, we were quickly seated with the option of a booth or table on the floor. We chose the booth which was very comfortable. The hostess showed us where the bar and cocktail waitress in case we wanted a drink. While we were being seated, they were showing funny epic fail type videos that you would see on YouTube to get the crowd laughing. I think we were the last people to show up, and with that being said the theater was about 90% full which I thought was pretty good for a late Sunday night.

The host Keith Lyle, who most people would recognize as the blackjack dealer in the first Hangover movie was funny.

He did a great job doing a little bit of standup while getting the crowd engaged and transitioning into the other acts. The first act, Matt Markman was very entertaining and kept everyone laughing during his act, which lasted around twenty minutes. The headliner, Derek Richards was the funniest of all the comedians. He had some good Vegas jokes in his set that were better than the standard ones you always hear. I thought the show could be counted as “R” rated, but it was not over the top raunchy. Then again, I am a firefighter by trade, and there are very few things that offend me. However, the crowd seemed not to get overly offended either, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Overall the drink service was good. The waitress would come around occasionally to refill drink orders, or you could go to the bar and order from there. I had ordered a Miler Lite and a Coke, and it was $7. The show lasted 75 minutes as promised by The D. After the show, all of the comics were available in the showroom lobby for a meet and greet along with pictures. The comedians were also selling merchandise like t-shirts, CD’s, and DVD’s of their shows. From what I could find, Jokesters has a pretty active social media presence so you can find out who is going to be at the shows. Along with that, they have been running a 2 for one special for tickets on Facebook and Twitter.

Regular tickets will run you $29.95 a piece. After fees and taxes, it was $82 and change for the wife and me to go to the show, which I thought was well worth the price. If Jokesters can keep the same caliber of comedians, we saw this could be a long-standing arrangement that will not disappoint. I would definitely go again the next time I am in Vegas. The Jokesters Comedy Club at The D has performances seven nights a week.

    1. Your welcome, glad I could help. If you like a good adult comedy show this will be right up your alley.

  1. Hope it sticks around for a while. So many shows ending, which is sad, since so many of them are good shows as well. I’m married to a construction worker, so we love raunchy, dirty humor…lol. Would be fun to check it out sometime.
