Vegas Bright News Blast: The Stevens buy more of Downtown, Boyd Acquires Aliante, Wynn’s Lagoon, more…

Welcome to a new feature here at Vegas Bright, the news blast! Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest Vegas happenings, this is all the sh*t you may have missed from around the web.

Derek Stephens buys up more DT Vegas:

Glitter Gulch, Mermaids, and The Bayou now belong to the Stevens. The properties will close on June 27th.

Boyd rumored to be buying Cannery Casinos:

Rumors abound in Las Vegas; this one might have some bite.

Boyd Acquires Aliante Casino

This is no rumor; this is 100% legit…

Fontainebleau Rumors

And rumors abound that Fontainebleau bidders are awaiting getting final funding for finishing a build out to bid being accepted for purchase. Supposedly at least four bidders are in final talks. Nothing in writing of course just blog space rumors and some comments on Robin Leach’s section of Las Vegas Sun…a tidbit that maybe a CBRE rep could verify or deny?

Apollo and TPG in a hole

Apollo and TPG are trying to dig out of the hole they created when they dumped almost 30B in debt into the Harrah’s purchase in late 2000’s. This was the bad news that hit last month…actual report has quite a bit of OMG moments in it…one of the Apollo people left the CEOC Board of Directors (but stayed with other Caesars non-bankrupt divisions).

And now Apollo and TPG are trying to get basic bankruptcy rules changed with oil companies that would affect Bond Holders.

Also, one from earlier this month…Wynn Announces the Park Lagoon, the golf course redevelopment which will feature a water park.

  1. Downtown has already gotten so much better in recent years and it looks to continue that trend. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! Hopefully the deep fried Twinkies and Oreos find a home in the new place. ;)

  2. Excited to see Derek Steven’s vision for 2 grind joints and a really bad nudie bar. I think so far he’s done a good job with the properties he’s acquired (Fitz and GG). I think this will be a good thing.
