What’s Next for Bally’s Branding Sans Jubilee?
As Jubilee enters its final month I have started to consider how intimately it is tied into the whole personality of Bally’s.
Bally’s doesn’t just need a new show now, it needs a whole new identity. Sadly the Bally’s marquee out front has to go. We have been staring at that showgirl’s derriere for eons it seems.
I hate to lose that landmark.
There is no point in having a display of showgirl costumes on the casino floor now. Everyone always stopped to take pictures of them. How many souvenirs in the Bally’s gift shop feature Jubilee and/or showgirls on them? I guess they will be collectors items now. Almost every casino hotel in Vegas has some signature item that you identify with that location; for Bally’s it has always been the showgirls.
What is next for Bally’s? I am a frequent visitor so I am curious to see the changes that are inevitably coming.
I just wish I was going to be in town this month to bid adieu to the fabulous Jubilee.

I hope they rebrand and update the north tower. I know they will continue to host DefCon for the next 4 years at least. It sprawls Bally’s and Paris. If you are a frequent visitor I would avoid Bally’s the last week of July and the first week of August. Also do not use any electronic devices with WiFi or cellular and avoid ATMs during that time.
Pretty interesting.
I don’t mind staying at Ballys in the redone tower. The floor is fine. They have decent blackjack, craps, and poker. The place is dethemed into oblivion at this point, though. It has no identity. What is “Jarrod’s Party Pit?” Buca di Beppo? Etc. They get points off for redoing the Mexican place, Tequila was one of the best values on the Strip until it closed.
This place has as much blank canvas as anywhere on the Strip – the shops in front are abominable and the mall in back has been dead for ages. They could put something useful into one of those spots.
Never stayed in Bally’s but the sign is pretty symbolic and it will be missed.
Yes..I will miss that sign. Also the old Barbary Coast sign on that same corner…I miss that too. Those signs were iconic. You always knew where you were when you saw those!
I, personally, always found the Jubilee sign to be very re-ass-uring :D
Goddess starring Elizabeth Berkeley from the really good bad movie Showgirls….. the stardust can’t host it anymore so go bad in a good way?
