Mac King

Mac King is The King of Family Friendly Entertainment

Blonde4ever shares her review of Mac King

If it were up to me, I would crown Mac King as the “king” of family friendly entertainment in Las Vegas. If you are looking for an afternoon show to appeal to all ages, this is the one for you.

Mac King plays at 1 pm and 3 pm on Tuesday through Saturday at Harrah’s Las Vegas on the Strip. Some hotels you go into and never find your way out but happily Harrah’s is not one of those. It is the perfect mid-Strip location, and it is easy to navigate once you get there; just take the escalator to the third floor, and you will find his showroom.

Mac has been performing at Harrah’s for 17 years and has signed a contract to be there through 2019. He appears in all five of NBC’s The World’s Greatest Magic specials. He also does at least 60 private corporate events every year.

I have seen Mac King before, but it has been a few years since I went. Since I had a Las Vegas Advisor coupon that gave me a ticket and a drink for $15 I decided it was time to visit again on a recent trip.  I have also heard that if you go to the Total Rewards desk, they will usually have vouchers for discounted tickets to his show. I bought my ticket and tipped the usher so I could sit in the front row, thinking I could take some good pictures for this article. Sadly they don’t allow pictures during the show, so I snapped some before and after.

I sipped on my margarita as I waited for Mac to appear, and then there he was, resplendent in that same crazy plaid suit he has been wearing for years. I sure hope he has multiples of that suit!

Mac King’s show is as entertaining (if not more) than shows you would pay three times the price for. His show is filled with laughs, surprises, and magic. His humour is of the clean PG kind, and if he does do a slightly more adult joke, the kids won’t get it anyway.

Mac involves several audience members in every show, so every performance is different. He comes across as a charming, hilarious, genuinely nice man. It is impossible not to like this talented performer. I loved how he came out after the show to greet his fans and took special time with each and every child that approached him. A piece of his rope fell near me during one of his tricks, so I kept it as a souvenir.

Mac sells some of his books and products outside the theater after the show and will autograph them for you.

I think many Vegas visitors come to this show expecting it to be only for children and are surprised to find themselves laughing harder than the kids. For a guaranteed good time at a bargain price, be sure to see this show.

You can visit Mac King’s website here, and you can go here to purchase tickets.

  1. I have gone to Vegas on-off for the last 15 or 20 years, and have gone to Mac’s show every few years. His show is always fun, imaginative, and ‘magic’. He’s a great performer and wonderful magician. To me, his show is the best deal in Vegas!

  2. I went to see both Mac and Penn & Teller last year, enjoyed Mac much more. Maybe I was disappointed with P&T because a lot of their stuff was not “spectacular” like I expected. With Mac King, I was looking forward to laughing, and I did.
