Tapping The World’s Largest Pint Glass At Hennessey’s

Matty Ice “Ties One On” At Hennessey’s Las Vegas

Have you ever been wandering down Fremont Street and noticed the giant pint of Bass Pale Ale on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard? A couple of weekends ago, I did.

After our dinner at Carbone Timeless Italian (see the review here), I decided to indulge my Irish half at the “World’s Largest Pint Glass” at Hennessey’’s Tavern. Our group had made our way down from Four Queens and decided to stop in “for just one drink.”

The atmosphere inside Hennessey’s is of a classic Irish pub…with dark wood and low lighting. We sat down at the bar and immediately were greeted by our awesome bartender (whose name I unfortunately forgot). He suggested that we try the “car bombs,” made by dropping a shot of Irish cream and whiskey into a glass of stout. His sales pitch worked.

After a couple of those bombs, our host told us about the bar itself, which features some cool stuff. Very cool stuff, actually, like the only tapped barrel of Jameson Irish Whiskey in the world. Yes,… Jameson…straight from the barrel. I had to do a shot to fact-check that this was indeed better than bottled. I’’m happy to say that it was!

Hennessey’s has a great beer list, heavy on the Guinness varietals (which you’’d expect in an Irish pub), but also a great whiskey list as well. There’s the option to do one of three liquor-tasting flights (Irish Whiskey, Bourbon or Cazadores Tequila, each priced at $15) if that’’s more your speed.

The “World’s Largest Pint” claim describes more than the exterior decoration. Hennessey’s serves a 60-ounce souvenir “Pint”, filled with domestic draft for $30. A premium/import draft fill-up is $35.

If you’re hungry, Hennessey’s has a complete menu, starting with breakfast at 9 am. There are soups, salads, appetizers, burgers, signature dishes, and $5 Happy Hour specials from 4-7.

After a few minutes of listening to the surprisingly good cover band, we decided it should be time to head out. When done paying, we were surprised with a complimentary shot of “Baby Guinness”. That’s coffee liqueur, black Sambuca and Bailey’s floated on top like an infant version of a Guinness, hence the name. This was so good we decided to order another car bomb with this as the shooter instead…and it was magical.

Overall, I had a great time at Hennessey’’s Tavern. If you’’re looking for a fun place to knock back a few on Fremont Street, I highly suggest checking them out!

Hennessey’s Tavern is located at 425 Fremont St. #110. Business hours are 9 am until “late”…
