Binion’s Hangover Breakfast Burger Cures What Ails Ya

Biting In: The Hangover Breakfast Burger at Binion’s Cafe…

Before our ‘Downtown Day’ trip, I had never heard of the Hangover Breakfast Burger. On our excursion to Downtown Las Vegas, my wife and I knew that we weren’t ready to bring on the day until we had breakfast. Now, bear in mind that when my wife and I travel together, we don’t tend to get breakfast until late in the morning or early afternoon. Usually, because we finally get to sleep at 3 AM, we’re up late in the morning. On this day, we woke up, got ready, grabbed a coffee, played some slots, and hopped in a cab to Downtown.

The original plan was to go to Benny’s Smokin’ BBQ as Blonde4ever highly regarded it in an article she wrote about Binion’s. As I prepped for my first trip Downtown visit in 6 years, I had been noting tips from her and Vital Vegas’ Downtown section. Unfortunately, Benny’s BBQ wasn’t open yet. My wife saw an advert for Binion’s Cafe, “What about this?” she said, as she looked at me with an immediate hunger urgency in her eyes. The awesome and stellar husband that I am quickly agreed.

We were seated, and we ordered the usual choice of beverages, a glass of soda and a glass of water, each. The staff were prompt and pleasant. Looking over the menu, it was hard to make a choice as everything in the breakfast section looked good. The Hangover Breakfast Burger jumped out at me.

I wasn’t hungover, but I didn’t feel I was operating at 100%. I felt dehydrated. I felt like I wasn’t running on enough fuel, and I had a headache. Just like the symptoms of a hangover (and the symptoms of dehydration). So I ordered up the hangover breakfast burger. I figured if anything on this menu was going to put me in a ‘Bring on the Day’ mood, this better be it.

This burger had everything I needed. It was filling, and loaded with carbs and calories. The burger maintained flavor from the first bite to the last. I specify this in my reviews because when I’m really hungry, most things will taste good on the first couple of bites. I was just as content on the last bite as I was at the first. This burger delivered not only in flavor, but it also delivered in its main objective. I felt awake and revitalized; I felt like I was at 100% and had loads of energy to officially start my day Downtown.

  1. Binions has great food for no matter what mood you are in. The BBQ is delicious. The steakhouse is top notch. The deli has the best corned beef sandwich in Vegas. And the coffee shop has great comfort food like the Hangover burger and a really, really good country fried steak. It’s my go to property when looking for food downtown.

    1. I’m definitely going back next time I’m in town. It’s been ages since I had country fried steak.

  2. Michael, you might want to combine all of your burger escapades and do a “Vegas Burger Blog” tab on your site. You make me hungry with all of these – and I’m jealous that you can eat so many burgers! I have to limit myself to one or two a month.

    1. Hi Corgimom :) It’s funny you say that! The first time I had an idea for a Vegas blog, it was for a Vegas burger blog. One already exists though, so I didn’t want to steal someone else’s thunder.

  3. Hope you showed your Binion’s players card to the cashier to get a discount on that Hangover Breakfast Burger!

    1. I forgot to get a player’s card ._. It was well worth the price though!

  4. Thanks for sharing. By the sounds of it, I should be eating that every morning in Vegas. I do my best to wake up relatively early despite how late I stay up, the hangovers can be painful!

On the burger topic, have you checked out Holstein’s at the cosmo yet? One of my favorite burgers of all time!

  5. the burger sounds good. I have had the ribs at the BBQ place twice. first time I liked it, gobbled it up. 7 or 8 months later, I went for it again everything on the plate was awful. and I was really hungry. I probably wont eat at the BBQ joint again, but willing to try the burger. I had a steak and egg special in the café that was fine.

    1. I’m guessing it was early evening the first time you went and later the second time? All ribs are smoked early in the day and they are always best from 4 to 6ish. If you go late in the evening, they are usually dry and not near as good.

      1. no, actually it was the opposite. on the 2nd visit I was there at opening time, 4 or 5 p.m. the food seemed like it was leftover from the previous night. or month.

  6. I tried this on our recent trip. Was pretty darn good, and no I wasn’t hungover, but it probably prevented a hangover. Would have this again. Binion’s café is a nice little place to eat.

  7. Eating downtown makes me nervous but willing to try Vic and Anthony and DuPar’s

    1. Nothing to be worried about Jackie, there is quality downtown just as there is on the strip :)
