Revolution Lounge Closed, Kicking Myself Is Now Open

Revolution Lounge has closed. And now, I’m kicking myself.

In the beginning, there were mobsters. Mobsters created the Strip, and it was good. Mobsters got arrested, so large corporations took the Strip, that too was good. Different, but good. Many years later, a British-American said, “let there be Light Group.” Light Group shone its presence on various strip properties, bringing new and exciting venues. It was good. Then sh*t went south somehow; stakes were sold. Some time later, Hakkasan acquired Light Group. Now, many favorite Light Group places are closing. This is sad.

The latest on the list of fatalities is The Beatles Revolution Lounge at the Mirage. When I read the news, I was at my day job (spoiler alert: running VegasBright isn’t my day job). It was a typical lunch break, nomming on whatever I brought in for lunch while catching up on Vegas things. I was reading Vegas Eater or Eater Vegas…whatever. Sometimes reading that site while eating a homemade Oscar Meyer Turkey sandwich makes my dull culinary experience a bit more enjoyable. This day, it didn’t, as I read about the closing.

Revolution as of October 2015

I have fond memories of Revolution Lounge though I never stepped foot inside of it. I always meant to. I always said that I would. I always said “next time.” I remember walking passed it, on numerous trips, always in good spirits. I’d either be on my way back from something awesome, or on my way to something awesome. I remember being with friends, or solo, and most recently with my wife. I remember saying, “You know, I think I’ll stop in next time I’m in town.” That’s what happens when I overbook my Vegas stays, or just plain take something for granted. The thing is, every time I said “I’ll go next time”, the Revolution Lounge was there when I went back. It was there since my very first Vegas trip. It was there even before my first Vegas trip; it opened in January of 2007.

The Revolution Lounge will be replaced by a new experience, or rather a new “Dream Experience” as Mirage’s marketing is fond of saying.

I suppose this article, if anything, should serve as a cautionary tale. Don’t put off until next trip what you might accomplish with your present one. You never know when that thing you meant to do is gone for good. If you’ve spent time there, and you’re upset about Revolution Lounge being gone, there is good news. On EBAY is an item for sale: a Grand Opening ticket to Revolution Lounge, the price is $5, but it’s eBay so first come, first serve. There is only one. Now to heed my own advice, Bourbon Room, I’m coming for you.

  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    say it isn’t so!!!!

    UGHHHHH

I stayed at the Mirage for the 1st time last year and LOVED this place. DJ was so good and they didn’t play EDM all night. Nice mix of hip hop and r and b. Didn’t go this past year cause I was so busy with other clubs but hubs and I are so BUMMED!!!!

Without Vegas Bright I would never know this. Keep up the good work.

  2. BTW love Eater Vegas. This news is just as bad as finding out NYC wont renew food truck licenses and my fav mex truck is no more as of last Friday. Didn’t know Light Group owned them. As you can see the read the subject of the article only and then called my husband immediately then I went back to reading the article haha

  3. I too have several of the same feelings regarding Light Group’s assimilation into the Hakkasan conglomerate. :-(
