Jim and Kendra Go Hooker-Spotting As Part of Their “Vegas Musts”

Vegas Bright readers Jim and Kendra share their tasty and hooker-spotting Vegas Musts…

From the moment my wife books our flight to Vegas our “must” begin by setting our countdown widget on our phones.

Whether we are 90 days out or if we book a spontaneous cheap flight the day before from Spirit Airlines. BTW we have had great service and flights from Spirit at a fraction of the price. As it stands, we are at 1 month 7 days 13 hours and 5 minutes until our next trip together. The countdown prompts us to daydream about the endless possibilities of an upcoming Vegas trip. As time grows shorter the wife and I start cracking an inside joke that revolves around the topic of pancakes…” pancakes sure do sound good,” or “I really could go for some pancakes.” Our son called us out on it thinking we were making sexually suggestive comments but we had to explain that when we head to Vegas the first thing we “must” do is stop at Du-pars, House of Blues or Hash House to get some pancakes and we were really only talking about pancakes. The photo is Hash House pancakes.

Vegas Musts

As the years go by our “musts” have changed like so many, due to how Vegas is ever-changing. In the past our “musts” included staying at TheHotel and at least one dinner at China Grill. Now we stay at whatever the best offer is due to TheHotel being ruined when it became Delano, and, have at least one meal at In-N-Out Burger because China Grill is gone. RIP TheHotel and China Grill. It may seem like a stretch on both accounts as China Grill was so elaborate with what seemed to be a seven-course dining experience (not sure, that would take 2 hours and a hefty bill at the end). In-N-Out Burger is just a simple burger joint that is quite reasonably priced. But they both share a common thread: an amazing tasting menu and probably with the same amount of employees choreographed in a symphonic manner to deliver their dining experience.

Vegas Musts

When I looked through my photos of Vegas in years past, I noticed a pattern of “musts” that I never thought about. We send photos of our big wins on slot machines to each other. Quite honestly it is mainly my wife sending me pictures of her big wins while I give my money to the slots. Her photos are probably 20 to 1 of mine. My wife is in Vegas as we speak for a conference, she is still allowed to send big win photos.

And on a side note, I guess the slot attendants at Tropicana are nice and don’t mind taking selfies with you.

On our trips one “must” is to check out all the new happenings in Vegas that we get enlightened to by Vegas Bright and Vital Vegas that catch our interest.

While still enjoying the themed aspects of Vegas that make it photo worthy.

Our last “must” is that we make it to Treasure Island and play in the 10 pm poker tournament. We have done it often enough to recognize a lot of local players and can distinguish them from the tourists pretty easily. The dealers are for the most part friendly with some exceptions. It’s only a $65 buy-in, so it’s not like your gonna be playing for a life-changing sum of money. If you get into the money, it is usually between 1 am to 2 am. If we have offset our sleep patterns enough by this time we “must” start or continue drinking while walking the strip collecting chips.

Vegas Musts

We like walk through casinos playing “Pick the Pro” — a little game we made up where we spot the prostitutes. I was at a disadvantage for quite some time until my wife explained her logic that while some may look like a Pro, the dead giveaway was that the Pro doesn’t usually carry a purse. On one trip we started at TI and backtracked to Wynn/Encore and made our way down to Excalibur/Luxor bridge for this awesome photo of the sunrise at 6:29 am.

Vegas Musts

Walking through the night in Vegas is such a magical experience in our opinion. It reveals a layer of Vegas that can’t be seen during the day. You don’t have to fight the congestion of people, blazing sun; all the panhandlers are quietly sleeping in their spot on the bridges or any area that they can find. The majority of people that are still active are the party or over partied and the hardcore gamblers which makes for a great people watching environment.

Oh yeah, another Vegas “must” is we take a lot of selfies to commemorate our trips.

Mic-drop and walk away!!!
