Dining Review: Second Street Grill

Blonde4ever visits Second Street Grill at the Fremont Hotel…

On a recent Vegas trip  my roommate and I were invited to dinner by the Royal Flusher (royalflushervegas.com) and his lovely wife Quad Queen at the Second Street Grill at the Fremont Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. Despite having stayed at the Fremont Hotel several times and having played in their casino numerous times, I had no idea where Second Street Grill was.

Second Street Grill

It was hiding in plain sight because there it is, right on the main floor and I had walked past it a million times without ever noticing it. Our group convened outside the doors at the appointed time and then we were led inside to a comfortable booth in the back corner. The room is nothing to ooh and ah over, but it has a traditional steakhouse feel to it. My only complaint would be the odd selection of piped in music that was playing that night. But we were there for the food and company, so the music didn’t bother us much.

For starters, our host ordered the Mozzarella and Beefsteak Tomato appetizer ($14) which I stole some of. His wife ordered minestrone ($7), and my roommate ordered a Spinach salad ($13). My appetizer was a Rusty Nail.

For my main course, I went with Shanghai Roast Duck with Blackberry Glaze ($27). It was just as amazing as it sounds and something I would gladly order again.
My roommate chose Mongolian Rack of Lamb ($37) and enjoyed it immensely. Our hosts chose two different kinds of steak; the rib eye ($37) and the New York ($34). There wasn’t much left on our plates when we were done so I think we were all happy with our meals. I love the way they decorate the plates with a fuchsia orchid. No one had room for dessert, but we occupied our table for a long time just talking and laughing. It was a marvelous night.

I hope to return to Second Street Grill next trip and take advantage of their Complete T-Bone Steak Dinner Special for just $22.99.

  1. Thanks Bonnie, I’ve walked by it many times also, have wondered about the place think I’ll give it a try next trip, have always ate at Tony Romas, which is always great, if you go there try their onion loaf! Devine!

  2. Tony Romas is very reasonable price wise! I’ve had a ribeye at Oskars, very good but quite spendy, I try to watch my $s to when there gotta save them for the machines…lol
