Home2 Suites and Tru Hotel Construction Updates

Checking in on the many south Strip construction projects

Vegas Bright resident photographer Greg C. made the trek to the south strip to update the construction progress on not one, but two new hotel projects being erected from the ground up. First up is Tru Hotel located at 6862 Gilespie Street, just one block south of McCarran International Airport. Scheduled to open next month, Tru Hotel is Hilton’s attempt at going for the coveted millennial customer with this more affordable lodging option.

Located directly behind local favorite Bootlegger Italian Bistro, Home2 Suites will be the newest lodging addition to the area that has experienced major growth in the last few years with a Hilton Garden Inn, Baymont Inn & Suites, and Residence Inn by Marriott all now within a stone’s throw of one each other. Originally slated for a December 2017 grand opening, construction delays have caused that date to be revised to January 2018.

It is always great to see more affordable lodging options available that are both family-friendly and resort-fee free!

The Home2 Suites is a good line of hotel for the buck. It still amazes me that there are a LOT of other hotels in Vegas besides the strip and downtown. Hope these places do well.
I also love the Mandalay Bay in the background of the first photo. Blessings to everyone out there.

  2. Nobody cares about all the construction updates. Stories about Vegas that we care about. Whats happening in Vegas. Restaurant reviews, ect…

    • Keith, no one is forcing you to click on the construction updates. If you don’t like the stories, kick rocks and get out of here! Thanks. – @LasVegasJunkie

I swear, all apartment and condo complexes built the last 4 years look all the same to me. They all look like commie style block buildings with some bright colors. Im aware they need to cut cost – but how about we get some new designs once in awhile. lol

    • Agreed!!….a bit of architectural flourish would be nice instead of a painted rectangle. Keeping the cost down (as in no “resort fees”) is the goal for sure……at least people looking for a clean, new place to stay for an extended visit have options. Works if you have your own vehicle and don’t mind driving up to the action……the hotel is just a place to shower and snooze………..

I live in North San Diego county – the apartment and condos that are newly built look just like this one. Even the new low income housing complexes being built look all the same. I guess its easier to do and saves lots of time being built. It cuts cost way down.

Keep up with the pictures. I used to follow a site that kept track of all the new building projects in Las Vegas. Site went dead – but I am glad you all are keeping us up to date. Go take some pictures of the new resort world and its surrounding areas. Ill be there next week but I never leave the casino because all i do is gamble and go to the spa. I dont even eat – lol, need money to gamble.
