Sh*t You May Have Missed… Like GGG vs. Canelo at T-Mobile Arena This Saturday

Hey all, BigAZMarty here with this week’s news about our favorite place, Las Vegas!

Well, this can’t be good, LV Metro police are asking for any other sexual assault victims to please come forward in regards to accusations that a Security Guard kidnapped, burglarized, and sexually assaulted a woman in a strip resort stairwell.  Read LVSun here for details.  This should never, ever happen, ever. No info for which resort it was either. [Editor’s-Note: KTNV reports the attack took place at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.]

Boxers Canelo and GGG have made their final Las Vegas press conference; LVSun has a quick bite and gallery here.  The fight is this Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Mike Tyson is back with Undisputed Truth Rd. 2 at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand, read LVSun (via LVWeekly) here.  He’s got new material to cover so it’s not a repeat of Round 1.

Thinking of taking a swim at Hoover Dam? Well, it will get you arrested and a fine of at least $330 as a Welsh man has since found out, read LVRJ here.  I still remember when the water was at the maximum level in the 1980’s and the side spillways were flowing…that was scary enough to make you think twice.

Of course, this article comes in the LVRJ. Why? Because HE [Sheldon] OWNS IT!  LVRJ article on how Sheldon Adelson is now the highest paid CEO in S&P 500 CEOs.  Read LVRJ here.

MGM hires away Kelly Smith to replicate the Starbucks Rewards success for MLife members, read LVRJ here.  People want the free stuff to make it feel like an experience you can’t find anywhere else; at least feel lucky, comped rooms, free meals, free play and maybe a free cabana rental at the pool.  We don’t really care for offers to pay for upgraded suites or having a COMP offer that has NO AVAILABLE DATES (not enough rooms assigned to the marketing dept for comp use).  As Las Vegas gets closer to 97% occupancy rate look for the room quality offered for COMPs to decline.

On the flip side, it looks like Caesars Entertainment has recently removed suites that are now in the CaesarsSuites portfolio from the Total Rewards room options; but their availability for COMP or discounted rooms is still miles better than MLife.  I’ve also received an email from TotalRewards stating that they are now doing an Opt-In program where you only get ONE Comp room night when you get 5,000 Tier Credits (Platinum Level), and another night when you hit 10,000 Tier Credits (2/3’rds to Diamond status).  I did NOT opt-in as it seems to be rather limiting and a decrease in the program levels.

Mandalay Bay, the MGM property that has Union Security Guards, has a new 3-year contract with the union, read LVRJ here.

Zak Bagans of Ghost Adventures is going to open The Haunted Museum on Charleston Boulevard on Oct. 2nd.  Read LVRJ here.  Creepy and kind of unnerving in the amount of stuff he’s going to display, and it’s going to be in a purported haunted location as well…. sheesh! Gives you the willies just thinking about it, right?

That mini-golf announced for Bally’s?  It’s going to be Twilight Zone themed, read LV KTNV Channel 13 news here.  Sounds like they have nixed the bowling alley idea in favor of the SyFy wedding chapel.  Does that mean that there are now going to be two themed wedding chapels? Remember that Real Bodies has a creepy one as well.

Matt Goss is coming back, but not to Caesars Palace or any CZR run properties, this time he’s doing 1Oak at The Mirage, read Kats via LVRJ here.

Remember all The Palms restaurants and club closures last week? Well, Vital Vegas has a good report here on what and who (Michael Symon) might be replacing some of those recently closed spaces with.

Vital Vegas also has steelwork updates (construction porn) on Palace Station as well…Mmmm girders going up! Read and view here.  Red Rock Resorts must’ve banned drones in their Palace Station construction zone…. bummer.

At least one of the Monte Carlo eateries will be relocating and not closing-up-shop, as 800 degrees is moving up near the mezzanine in New York-New York (perfect fit as the existing pizza place NYP is, well, not that good).  Read Eater Vegas here… I am hoping for a crunchy thin crust like Michelangelo’s in Myrtle Beach in early 2000’s, so good!

More Monte Carlo to Park MGM and NoMad transition news as we have a possible sighting of the new Park MGM standard king room via MarC of EDGE Vegas, link to this YouTube video here.  I don’t see the justification of a midweek rate of $120 a night plus resort fee…. just some new furniture as well as a good re-position of furniture in the main room and a simple redo of the bathroom (no door for the water closet still)… I think Planet Hollywood’s room remodels were better executed if I’m being completely honest.  Red and green room options… what the heck is it, Christmas-Land?  Hopefully, the NoMad rooms are much better… and hoping they can do something with that odd room shape for the old Monaco suites.  Monte Carlo’s website has some preview rooms up and available already here and here.

Monte Carlo’s The Buffet is now closed, read Eater Vegas here.  Hopefully, they will be routing everyone to either Aria or MGM Buffets like New York-New York does.

Adding onto the Vital Vegas post last week about the Hell’s Kitchen and fountains, Eater Vegas has more information, read here.

As of Wed Sept. 13, the new Medley Buffet is open at The Orleans; Aliante is rumored to be looking at a similar buffet setup, read Eater Vegas here.

Interesting read from Stiffs and Georges on what “The Steve” says is the required flower to plant at Wynn Resort as he lectures Japan lawmakers on how to run a successful resort.  Read here.

Think you know your dice? Vital Vegas has the security measures on how casinos make sure that dice game is good.  Read here.

“Sex Tips” at Paris was extended for 8 months, LVSun reports and has an interview with Kendra Wilkinson here.  Now if they can get that room to be more than just a conference room with a stage.

Fascinating read, LVSun here with how and what “wraps” are for the casino’s large buildings, including the installation process.

LVSun via Las Vegas Weekly released a list of Oktoberfest events in Las Vegas here.  Or as they say in the BierHaus slot, “Oh Heidi”.  Hofbrauhaus is probably the most genuine of the five listed.

LVSun via Las Vegas Weekly has a list of the major concerts for fight weekend, read here.

The Stage Deli near Hakkasan at MGM Grand has shut down, read Eater Vegas here.  Go down to The Mirage and hit up Carnegie’s Deli for that pastrami itch.

That’s it for now…and now over to our Editor-in-Chief, LasVegasJunkie, for our stuff and more.

Gracias, BigAZMarty!
