A Hidden Gem: Vince Neil’s Tatuado EAT DRINK PARTY

Iun Hockley reviews Vince Neil’s Tatuado Eat Drink Party

Just the other day I was looking for a word to describe my feelings about returning to Circus Circus. The first thing that came to mind was “Smoky Den of Iniquity” but that’s four words. “No, mercy, please.” Dangit, that’s only three words. Ah, wait… Trepidation. That’s exactly the word, trepidation.

Last time I was at Circus Circus was in 2016: kids were running wild everywhere; smoke was thick in the air; most of the slots I saw were “Out of Service”; the atmosphere was alive with the scent of disappointment, misery and I swear I saw the shattered pieces of former lives scattered liberally on the casino floor. I made a quick exit.

Fast forward to this year, and once again I was looking for something to satisfy my long-insufferable wife’s craving for something to do, Groupon had a $40 “Two steaks, a bottle of wine and a cheesecake wedge” deal for somewhere called “Vince Neil’s Tatuado EAT DRINK PARTY” (go on, say that drunk, I dare you.) Without thinking much about the location, I hit the “Buy” button, my card was duly charged. Oh wait, where is it…? Ah.

At this point, I had already told Her Majesty that we were going for a steak while we were in Vegas. I could not go back on my word. So it was with an enormous amount of trepidation that we approached the meal.

Surprisingly enough, we were not disappointed. As it turns out, we were delighted.

Let’s start with the décor: I honestly had no idea who the titular Vince Neil was, but you essentially could not look anywhere without seeing life-sized cut-outs and posters of his band, Motley Crue. There were motorcycles, license plates, chrome-plated skulls, a stage that apparently hosts karaoke, album covers from some of the best hard-rock albums of the 80’s… and best of all, a wall of TV’s showing non-stop 80s music videos. Berlin, Boy Meets Girl, Def Leppard, The Outfield, Madonna, The Bangles… they were all there in a mesmerizing reminder of all the greats that made that era so musically fascinating. Our table was situated just off the bar between the kitchen and directly opposite the TVs. Ask for this table. It was convenient with the servers and fantastic for ignoring everything else and immersing yourself in the glorious music.

We ordered our steaks medium-well, given the price, we expected a couple of anemic-looking pieces of charcoal garnished with a green been or two. What we received were two enormous slabs of juicy prime, garnished liberally with roasted vegetables with thick steak-cut fries. The steak was tender, cooked to perfection, in fact. The variety of veggies was welcome and the fries were crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

For the accompanying wine, we had a choice of red or white, we chose red and were pleased to find they had an excellent Chilean merlot. Both fruity and slightly sharp, it paired beautifully with the steak and thick slab of cheesecake that followed on. We took half the bottle back to our hotel and continued to enjoy it later into that night.

Would I say that Vince Neil’s Tatuado EAT DRINK PARTY is a hidden gem? At the moment, yes. Given its location at the North end of The Strip, it’s not easy to find, nor is it likely to attract a lot of foot traffic. I am certain as soon as word gets around, this place will bring a lot of credit to the once–glorious but now-faded Circus Circus.

  1. We’ve eaten here a couple of times and were not disappointed. I think the 2nd time service lacked just a tad.

  2. I’ve heard and read about this place but have not ventured up there to try it. This review may change my mind. I am a big fan of good steak and 80s music…lego Stormtroopers too ;) Glad you enjoyed it so much!

  3. I like to go to Circus Circus when I want to remember the good old days. Back in the mid 80’s, this was my go to place. Back then, this part of the strip was where everyone hung out. I just with the staff could hide there disdain of the customers a bit better.
