Celine – The Ultimate Superstar

Blonde4ever shares her review of Celine Dion at the Colosseum

Ten years ago my children and I went on a Vegas trip together. The highlight of that trip for us was our plans to go see Celine Dion perform at the Colosseum. Being Canadians, we are all huge fans of Celine, and we were very excited to see her live. We made it all the way to the Colosseum steps before we were stopped by the theater staff and informed that she was ill and there would be no performance. There were three very disappointed people at Caesars that night.

Flash forward ten years and my son surprised me with Celine tickets for our May Vegas trip. Happy Mother’s Day!!! I was in rough shape physically, but the excitement of finally getting to see her made me forget my discomfort. I had heard that there were no cameras allowed and that the staff actually keep your camera for the duration of the show if you bring one, so we made sure to only have our phones with us. Our seats were way up in the second mezzanine, and it was hard to get decent pictures as you can tell from the blurry shots in this article. I would love to see her again from a closer vantage point.

Celine Dion’s voice has lost nothing over the years. There is no lip syncing at this show. She sang most of my favorites from her incredible repertoire of hits; It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, If You Ask Me To, The Power of Love, etc. The only part of the show I did not enjoy was her brief sojourn into Jazz and “scat” singing.

The show features a full orchestra and band and is a visually stunning presentation. It was everything I thought it would be and more. In between songs she banters with the audience. I have seen some reviews that say she talks too much, however, I enjoyed it because she gave you a glimpse into her life and her warm personality. Celine has suffered through recent tragedies with the loss of her husband and manager, René Angélil, and brother Daniel. This makes certain songs even more poignant; My Heart Will Go On and Recovering, a song Pink wrote for her following Angélil’s death.

There are certain Vegas shows that are guaranteed to be fabulous, and Celine Dion is one of them. In our opinion (my son and mine) she is one of the best singers of this century. Do not miss your chance to see this veteran superstar.

Tickets for Celine may be purchased HERE….

  1. It’s a good day. Not only because Blonde4ever wrote yet another fun and good review of something, but because Vegas Bright lives on! It’s not just a simple website for those of us addicted to all things Vegas, but a good community of good people. Cheers to Vegas Bright!!!!

  2. EON NOE ONE I,VE BEEN SEEING Celine Dion from 2001 late 1990 I was at a store got a video of her from that day on I listen love her songs
her 1st night I sat in front of my TV watch her on CBS

  3. Saw A New Day (excellent) , the show before her husband died (just okay) and this one (just okay minus). Did not like all the talking (she actually sat and talked for what seemed like 15 minutes or more – we didn’t pay to sit in the front orchestra to hear her talk) and also didn’t like the various different types of music i.e. singing Prince. Love Celine (I’m also a Canadian) but she should stick to her many hits. Seeing Rod Stewart next week for the second time … a fantastic show!!

  4. I have always wanted to see her vegas show, but never have.
I have often read that there IS definitely some lip-synching. who knows?
    thx for the report.

  5. We saw her two years ago and she was good as she is billed to be. She definitely does NOT lip sync. I agree with Bonnie that her interaction with the audience gives us an insight to Celine the person and not just the performer. Celine is one of the best shows in Vegas at any price.
