Pizza Lotto Hits the Jackpot for a Light Meal

LasVegasJunkie reviews Pizza Lotto Las Vegas at El Cortez.

After taking a year and a half break from Las Vegas (got married, and then, my wife and I were expecting our first child) I finally made my return back in May of 2016 and many, many, more since then. I made it a point during that first return trip to check out a little restaurant inside of the El Cortez I had heard great things about, a little pizza joint named Pizza Lotto. Seeking out Pizza Lotto during my return foray to Las Vegas was the best decision I made; I have been back every trip since then.

Located just a few feet from the casino bar, Pizza Lotto took over the shuttered Café Cortez space that closed a little over two years ago. Owned by the same group that operates Siegel’s 1941, Pizza Lotto offers some of Downtown’s best calzones, pressadas (pressed sandwiches), and New York style pizza.

Being a creature of habit I tend to order the same thing over and over once I find a meal that I enjoy (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it) and that rule applies here at Pizza Lotto. I’ve tried a few different items on the menu but what continuously keeps me coming back are their slices of white pie with ricotta and Pepperoni (add ricotta).

The slices are light and crispy (not over burnt), the crust is crispy on the outside but perfectly soft on the inside without a doughy taste, mozzarella is perfectly gooey, ricotta is on point, and best of all the topping portions are hefty.

I highly recommend Pizza Lotto for a light meal or quick snack. Being a few feet away from both the Casino bar and Fremont Street, its location is great for grabbing a meal in less than 15 minutes. The restaurant setting is pretty small with room for about 20 patrons which makes for speedy service.

  1. Droooooling on my keyboard! I love white pie! Another reason I love Vegas Bright – I never would have known about this place and now I am going next time I am downtown. VIVA!

  2. I was there in June, and stumbled upon this little place. I thought the pizza was just mediocre (crust a little undercooked, toppings, cheese, and sauce were all good) but had potential, and there really wasn’t a menu. I was confused at first by the offerings in the case by the register, hoping that was actually not the food I was purchasing. The guy behind the counter seemed a little short with me when I was asking questions regarding what was available to order. But hey, for $3 a slice, I would try it out again.

  3. Too bad there are so many, REALLY good pizza spotsin the area because this is an inexpensive option and their pizza is pretty comparable if not just as good as many of them.
