Trip Report: Blonde4ever’s Perfect Halloween 2016 Trip – Part III
Blonde4ever shares Part 3 of her Las Vegas Trip Report from October of 2016…
Since I had failed miserably in trying to get my transportation issues resolved (as described in last week’s episode) and since Kodi had purchased an American phone yesterday, the first order of the day was for her to get it activated and then sign up with LYFT, the ride-sharing company. You have to have an American cell number to secure an account with them. She did this successfully, and we were very happy to now have some heavily discounted rides at our disposal. We both have some mobility issues, so economical transportation is vitally important to our trips.
We did our morning toilets, and I was dismayed to realize that I had left my jewelry case on my dresser at home. If you are acquainted with me at all you know, I rarely go anywhere without lots of jewelry on. I did wear some on my travel day, so I had one or two things with me, but not the usual vast assortment. It seems this trip I was relegated to wear the same pieces over and over; the horror!
The second order of the day was to take the Bally’s shuttle over to the Rio. An old board friend was treating us to the Carnival World Buffet there. I have not been there in years, so I was interested to see what it’s current condition was. I should know better than to listen to the message board populations that comment about everything going downhill. I found it perfectly fine; loads of choices, clean and well laid out, virtually nothing to complain about. We enjoyed a nice long lunch with our friend, catching up on all the news. Afterward, we shuttled back to Bally’s and had a short rest before our show that night.
Kodi wanted to try out her new phone and Lyft account and so when it was time to leave for Caesars she summoned a Lyft to take us there. Yes, we know it is right across the street, but you have to save steps where you can, right? Especially when we knew it would be virtually free. Unfortunately, she got a newbie who did not have all the ins and outs of being a Lyft driver firmly established in his brain yet. He had to ask us where Caesars was (!!!!) and then he apparently forgot to turn off his meter after dropping us off. When Kodi got back to the room that night, and double checked the ride on the APP, she found it cost way more than it should have because we were supposedly dropped off on Swenson. (We weren’t) A short email to LYFT brought about satisfaction as they rectified the mistake.
After reaching Caesars, Kodi went directly to the Box Office to pick up her Elton John tickets, and then we split up to check out the casino and play for a while before the show. I had one fun bonus on a Dragon Spin machine and then proceeded to play the winnings back in.
What can I say about the Elton John show? Well…I said it all here in this review. It was one of the best, if not THE BEST show I have ever seen in Vegas, and I have seen a lot of them. I was so grateful to Kodi for sharing this treat with me.

After the show was over we slowly wandered back across the pedestrian bridge towards home but decided instead to spend some time in the gorgeous Cromwell….
We enjoyed playing Video Poker, listening to a talented musician and sipping some delicious Pina Coladas; actually, I think those Pina Coladas were our dinner that night! To Be Continued next week.

Love seeing Elton in this venue! Such a fun show. Great review…Halloween in April! I love it.
Thanks for reading Chris. Yes..Elton was one of the highlights of my last trip for sure.
My wife and I flew in 10/30 saw the “Million Dollar Piano” that night and loved it. I was afraid the trip had nowhere to go but down after that start but had forgotten how Fremont celebrates Halloween. Breakfast at DuPar’s Monday morning and Halloween on Fremont Street followed by World Series game 7. Our best trip ever.
I understand completely!
it sounds like you had a valid reason to go shopping for some jewelry! surely you bought at least one new piece? ;-)
I did not. Shocking…I know! LOL
I love LYFT…..we used them october 2016 and january 2017 never more than 4 minutes,,,no more rude taxi drivers ,,,our last taxi driver was a women yelling all the way from the outlet mall to the california casino about how she knew she would get a short ride after she waited for a hour for a fare,,,,oh I don’t have a u.s. phone number,,,I’m from canada,,,,the fare is is u.s. funds and changed to canadian on my credit card but still way cheaper,,,,taxi with long haul to sam’s town $40….LYFT ride $12 ($16 canadian ) I love your trip reports
I love Lyft and Uber too. Seriously they have changed my trips completely. I am able to get to places I could never afford to go before.
