New Off-Strip Lodging: TRU Hotel Rises

Hilton bringing a TRU experience to Las Vegas…

With the increase in off-strip lodging options coming to fruition, another one is on the rise. TRU Hotel, a hotel in the Hilton family, is now under construction. Our friend and photographer Greg C tells us the six-story structure is going up about a half mile south of McCarran and a half mile east of Las Vegas Blvd. He sent us these pics (and cover):

What’s most interesting about this is the fact that Hilton has not yet added Las Vegas, or even Nevada to its TRU website for upcoming locations. Then again, maybe they would like to see the property in a later stage of completion as there is still a lot of work to be done. After some more research, I did locate an infographic on groundbreakings which shows the new Las Vegas addition. There are currently over 200 TRU Hotel locations in various stages of development.

Digging around online, we found this “Fly Through” pointing out various sections of the layout. TRU goes with a lobby layout called The Hive. The Hive might sound like a nightclub, but it isn’t. The Hive is the overall design of the hotel’s lobby with four different locations: Work, Play, Eat, Lounge. The Eat section features a free “build your own” breakfast.

Here are some of the bullet points from their official website.

  • Work Spaces. Our Hive includes plenty of space for guests to spread out and do their work including semi-private, sound absorption alcoves, space to collaborate with others, and an easily accessible tablet and printer.
  • Room for entertainment. Guestrooms include 55” TVs and 150 channels of DIRECTV, plus table and board games for guests of all ages in our expansive lobby.
  • Guestrooms with spacious bathrooms. Stylish and thoughtfully designed guestrooms and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers and lots of light.
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi. Stay connected and charged with free Wi-Fi and easy-to-reach outlets throughout guestrooms and the lobby.
  • 24/7 market. Snacks, drinks, light meals, and single-serve wine and beer* available 24/7 in our market.
  • Fitness center. Wellness trends, cardio, strength, and flexibility.

From the pictures I’m seeing on their photo gallery, the rooms look like they’ll be plenty adequate if you’re looking for an off-strip lodging hotel; then again I have a thing for renderings.

  1. TRU… Toys ‘R’ Us? Will there be slides, ball pits and toy dinosaurs. If so, I’m 100% behind this.
