Changes to Aria Tower Suites Line

Reader Chris R. shares some changes to the Aria Tower Suites product offering.

Chris sent us an email about changes to the Aria Tower Suites line of rooms, we verified these changes with Aria, so now I turn it over to Chris R.

Hey, guys! I just wanted to provide you with an update if you didn’t already know. I stay at the Aria once a month so I like to keep on top of the new changes. Thought you might appreciate it.

The Aria has recently made some changes to two different room types. Both the Center Suites type and Crystals Suites in the Tower Suites Line will have two queen beds in the room instead of the single king like before. This was just rolled out in the last few days.

No longer do they include limo transportation for any of those suites for free. They now charge a 200 dollar VIP experience fee to add that on.

These must be part of MGMs profit improving plan by cutting amenities. I recently confirmed this with staff at the aria. It’s pretty recent so the staff had to double check to make sure.

Thanks for sharing, Chris!

  1. I have been going to Vegas for the last 7 years (almost on a monthly basis) I can clearly see the trend from then til now. I am not surprised about strip prices going up for various things (i.e. buffets, drinks, and shows)
but what gets me cut back on comp items and services (i.e. comped rooms, parking, and jackpot payouts)
I know their strategy is to become more profitable but to cut back on things that I like and enjoy and what makes Vegas.. well you know Vegas. I guess the old days of the Binion era (comped and being treated like a high roller) are fading away fast and being replaced by (used to be comped) services that you now have to pay for (the day they charge just to walk in a casino is the day I will hang up my players card and take up a new hobby like basket weaving or watching grass grow)

  2. Glad to see Aria has more high-end options for platonic couples to share a room. That “VIP Experience” seems like a rip-off geared towards first-time/international visitors as a round-trip limo can be had for much less and the other inclusions aren’t that exciting.

  3. JC,
I think it is time for me to invest in basket weaving related stocks. Vegas as we used to know it, is certainly moving in the wrong direction.

  4. vegasdev,
I fully agree the excitement is slipping away (so is my money) and these reeds keep poking me!

  5. No. No. NO! I already thought ARIA was a bit overrated and overpriced (service is nothing compared to Bellagio, let alone the MO) and the basic rooms are no nicer than Vdara’s (yes, I understand that ARIA has a casino and restaurants, but if you’re just looking for a place to sleep….). MGM’s bean counters are ruining their brand. When I saw they were marketing some of their regular rooms as “tower suites” for an “upgraded experience” that wasn’t the SKY SUITES, I smelled a rat. Now they’re charging for the VIP treatment. Meh.

  6. I fear that Vegas is going to be in trouble with the nickel and dime antics towards their clientele. This aggressive strategy towards extra profits may work short term, but thanks to boards like this, people will catch on and just spend their money elsewhere. For their sake, I hope that they are smart enough to have staff that scan these types of sites and comment boards to see what their changes are doing to their customers. It’s going to cost them long term, and when it does, it’s going to be a hard spiral to pull out of. For now – I’m going to be careful when I’m spending my dough in Vegas. Great article and comments from other posters.

  7. With their profit improving plan they have also removed the round trip transportation benefit across many of their properties. At the Bellagio it used to be included with the penthouse suite if the rate was $450 or higher and is now not included. At the MGM Skylofts roundtrip airport transportation is only included in 2 bedroom lofts or better. That is extremely disappointing considering you are already paying at least $750 per night for a 1 bedroom Skyloft.
