Editor’s note: We’ve asked our writers and contributors for their opinions on the best/worst and noteworthy of all things Vegas for 2016 if they had time. Unlike other sites, a list of options to choose from was not given. Instead, a list of categories was presented letting our staff write their answers freely. With that, here are their answers for Vegas’ Best Vegas Trends of 2016

Outdoor Shopping/Parks. I love taking the fun outside with The Linq Promenade and The Park. When the weather is just right it’s great to take a break from the casino and enjoy a different atmosphere. –Michele Di Palma

Uber and Lyft- No more cab rides for this guy. -Fisherman

Phenomenal cocktail bars -Matty Ice

Vegas continues to be the “Anything you want it to be” kind of destination. Whether you fancy fine dining, shopping, shows, or just gambling, it is all here and more! -Blonde4ever

Bucking the “resort fee/parking fee” mentality (Stratosphere).  Funny I think they actually have a resort fee and it now costs hotel guests $5 to go up the elevator to the top of the Stratosphere Tower…so maybe not. -BigAzMarty

Discovery. Been happening for almost 70 years, and will continue long after I am gone.  There are constantly new offerings in Las Vegas, and one of the reasons that I am addicted to Las Vegas is that I could almost plan two trips per year just to experience new things. Might be a new headliner show (I am hoping Lionel Richie has more dates upcoming) a new casino like Lucky Dragon, a new theater venue like at the Park MGM, or just a restaurant that has been there forever but that you’d never previously thought twice about. As long as Las Vegas has to reinvent itself regularly to appeal to the masses, I will be there to experience what it has to offer. -Michael James

Renovating and Upgrading of Sportsbooks – Many books this year received nice overhauls of their screens in the simple cases, or complete renovations in the more extreme cases. In both cases, the view of the sporting events and the friendliness to the sports bettor were both markedly improved. -Gennadius

Seeing a lot more variety of live music in casino lounges. In one night saw Motown doo-wop, 80’s hair metal, and lounge lizard swing. I like it. -Kelly Lamrock

Uber and Lyft – It’s ridiculously convenient, great service, cost saving and time saving as well. Once I started with Uber and Lyft I never went back to taxis. Though I miss those little 24/7 Guides on the back seats of taxis, that would be the only con. -Michael Movestro
