Vegas Bright Looks Back: The Best Shows of 2016

Vegas Bright writers look back on the year and give their picks for the Best Show of 2016

Editor’s note: We’ve asked our writers and contributors for their opinions on the best/worst and noteworthy of all things Vegas for 2016 if they had time. Unlike other sites, a list of options to choose from was not given. Instead, a list of categories was presented letting our staff write their answers freely. With that, here are their answers for Best Vegas Show of 2016

Mariah Carey #1 to Infinity— Say what you want about her but this show brings out all the diva-liciousness I love. Plus it’s a great walk down nostalgia lane from the early 90s to now. –Michele Di Palma

Elton John– I saw a lot of good shows in 2016, but this was the best. You could tell he was performing because of his true passion for putting on a great show for people. It’s not like he needs to make any more money to be happy. – Fisherman

KA. I’ll be honest it’s the only Cirque show I’ve had the pleasure of seeing, but it was great. No wonder it has been around forever. – Matty Ice

Elton John.  I had the opportunity to see him this year when my friend got some comped tickets. He just blew me away. I was actually brought to tears at one point.  I had forgotten how talented he was. I would gladly go again. – Blonde4ever

Caesars Palace combo 4th of July and 50th Anniversary Fireworks show…that was something my wife and I will always have a video to remember it by.  Please note I may have to change this by Dec 31 as we haven’t seen Bruno Mars yet. –BigAzMarty

Caesars Palace

Le Reve at Wynn continues to be the best show in Las Vegas. It has all the spectacle, dancing, acrobatics, live vocals and jaw-dropping production values that Sin City audiences have come to expect…minus the weirdness and gibberish that drag Cirque shows down a notch or two. Will be eager to see what the Wynn team has in store when Le Reve gets another major refreshing this month. -Sammasseur

As I voted in my VC days, so do I vote now…..best show is “Beatles LOVE” at the Mirage.  It has been upgraded since I last saw it in 2014, which means what I thought was great then has only gotten better. – Greg C

Cirque

It’s one of about three due to the spate of show closings the past few months. In the interest of disclosure, I have never seen this show, but I am going with Donny and Marie at the Flamingo.  Not only due to longevity but because it is a show for all audiences.  Absinthe would be a great choice if one is OK with the blue subject matter, but since many people aren’t I can’t give it my full backing. – Michael James

KA – So much complexity and nuance in a single show. The stage and the performers are magnificent, especially considering the type of story that is being told through their performance. – Gennadius

Vegas The Show – is the show I would go back to see again. A wonderful trip through Las Vegas entertainment history and scenery that managed to get me in the feels. – Michael Movestro

Absinthe. Would love to say something new, but this is still Vegas at its most Vegasy. A kaleidoscope of spectacle, raunch, beauty, sleaze and WTF, with cabaret to boot. Still unequaled.  -Kelly Lamrock

  1. Thank you Michele Di Palma!!!!! Mariah is an amazing show. So sad Sammasseur didn’t like her show.
