Vegas for the Holidays 2016: Holiday at The Park
Taking a look at the Holiday festivities at The Park…
So it dawned on me when I was in town that this is The Park’s very first Christmas. The Park handled it like a pro, though. Offering up a towering tree and an ice skating rink along with concession stands for hot chocolate and ornaments, you could almost imagine that you were standing in Rockefeller Center.

It’s $15 per person to ice skate, which is far better than Rockefeller Center’s prices. For specific times see the Holiday at the Park website. The ice skating rink is in Toshiba Plaza territory, though. ut Holiday at Toshiba Plaza just doesn’t have a nice ring to it. While there, take a spin of the Coca-Cola wheel and try to win a stuffed polar bear.

I was visiting Vegas the night they unveiled the name of the Vegas Golden Knights NHL hockey team in that same location and I saw this ice rink there that night. I had assumed they put that rink there just for that event. It’s great that they are keeping it there as a holiday attraction. I was amazed to see how many thousands of people showed up for the unveiling of the NHL team’s name and logo. I had no idea there were so many hockey fans in Las Vegas. Judging by the number of kids I saw skating around that rink that night wearing their hockey jerseys, I think the Vegas Golden Knights will have a very enthusiastic young fan base.
Yay for mixed-use props! Also, there was not a Golden Knights hat to be found when I was out there. I checked in ultiple places, plenty of $85 hoodies though.
Golden Knights hats sold out very quickly on the night of the unveiling. That was the first thing I went looking for, but they had sold out of them already. They did have plenty of Black Clover brand hats with the Black Clover logo on the front of the hat and the Golden Knights logo on the side of the hat. I bought one of those hats as well as three Golden Knights t-shirts. I also got a foam Golden Knights hockey puck that I caught when it parachuted out of the sky from a helicopter high above the crowd. I felt very fortunate to have been there for the unveiling. Funny thing is, I wasn’t even aware they were having an event for the unveiling that night. It was just a coincidence that I happened to be there in Vegas and on that part of the Strip that evening and happened upon it by chance!
And how great it must’ve been to be there for something so historic!
