Wahlburgers Las Vegas

Review: Biting In At Wahlburgers Las Vegas

Our Burger-er in Chief finally makes it to Wahlburgers Las Vegas.

I’ve been excited for the Wahlburgers Las Vegas arrival in Vegas for some time before it actually arrived in Vegas. Back in June, I thought I happened upon a soft opening to only find out that it was just their bar and merch store. BigAzMarty also made an attempt but gave up due to long lines and 106-degree heat. On Sunday, finally, I was able to have a Wahlburger. If you’re traveling solo, there’s hardly any wait. If you’re a couple, they’ll text you when your table is ready which is roughly 15 to 20 minutes (which I heard the hostess tell the two couples in front of me). As I was solo on this trip, they found me a seat at the bar.

They brought me a menu:

I liked the fact that they brought me cold water immediately without me even asking. I began looking over their selections, not knowing what burger I would get, but I knew it had to be a burger. They do have other things to choose from, but after my fancy outing at Morimoto the night before, I needed to get back to my roots. Two things caught my eye: the Our Burger and the Thin Crispy Onion Rings. They took my order, and after a short wait, the food arrived.

I ordered the burger medium, and it was. However, I don’t think the thickness of the burger was a good match for a “medium” cooking. Although the burger was 1/3 of a pound, it wasn’t very thick. The burger itself (just the meat portion) was a bit too juicy for my liking because it was ordered as medium. I think there exists a meat-thickness-to-cooking-order ratio. This was not the correct one. Next time I’ll order it well-done. The taste of the burger (as a whole) was very good, but it didn’t stop my mouth in its tracks like some other burgers I’ve had (another review coming next week). I’m not saying it wasn’t “good,” I’m just saying it didn’t have a “wow” factor to it. What DID have a wow factor to it was the Thin Crispy Onion Rings.

The onion rings were perfect, simple, tasty, surprising (not sure what’s in the batter) and I could not get enough of them. I’ve had fried onion rings at other establishments and, usually, they are over-battered regardless of where I go. Here at Wahlburgers they do onion rings to perfection. It’s just the right amount of “not onion” on the onion that there’s a nice blend of tastes to be had. Get them while their hot and fresh from the vat! I also ordered an Arnold Palmer which was good as well.

As soon as I knew it, I had to head off for the next adventure.

I plan to go back to Wahlburgers Las Vegas again soon, even just for the onion rings. But, I will most likely order another burger, well-done.

  1. Thanks for the review.I plan to stop there end of November. Love me some good tasty onion rings. One question though, was the burger brought to you with what looks like a thumb grasp casualty or was that self inflicted?

  2. I was there in September and we sat at the bar with little wait. As you stated, not a bad burger but was worth it with the atmosphere. Once/if they get rid of that dumb market out front of it, would be better place to hang out for a few.

    1. I don’t recall the market. I do remember Fuel Bar, Tiki Bar and Sin City Beer that’s about to open. The bars do really well at Grand Bazaar shops, always busy!

  3. Why is it that restaurants across the country are getting rid of the 15% metric for tipping? Red Robin is guilty of this as well as they start at 18% on their new tablets. Of course you can do what you want, but when it’s so easy you end up just using their figures instead of your own, right?

    1. Well Stevo, it helps when they do the math for me :) Typically though I usually tip 20% or more. I have seen some places that still have 15% on the receipts.

  4. This place is a dump. We had a burger and fries and a coke and it was like $28. Burger was supposed to be a double patty but they were so thin it looked like one patty. I’ve had a $5 five guys burger that was better than this $14 burger.

    1. Kevin! I love that you mentioned Five Guys! On my flight home I was comparing the Wahlburgers burger to Five Guys for a chart I’m working on for the end of the year.Five Guys was above Wahlburgers. Wahlburgers was above IN-N-OUT.

  5. I think I need to try the one in Coney Island and then try the one in Vegas so I can compare.
