Monte Carlo: The Pub Closes, New Paintjob Begins, Street of Dreams Slips Into Coma

Things, They Are-A-Changin’ at Monte Carlo as Park MGM transformation begins.

Back when the Monte Carlo rebrand to Park MGM was announced, we knew things would go. Places would shutter, the scale would go up, and some of our favorite places would go away. Exactly how far along are things going so far? First, we received this from Zach Maisch.

Whaaaaaaat? All of them? Yep, all of them! Big Chill Bar, Lick, The Pub, The Cupcakery, Yogurt In,…all of them.

Then, there was this from Dan_in_Vancouver:

I wonder if they really are trying out a palette or if gray and black will be the official colors of The Park MGM? Dan also informed us they are testing interior colors on the 29th floor. Also, remember the pool? Here’s that:

If the top banner continues in black, we can expect “Park MGM” signage to be light colors, kind of like The Cosmopolitan, just without the video screens.

There’s a slew of activity happening within Monte Carlo, but it really started with The Park Theater, which is scheduled to open in December. Stevie Nicks will be the headliner for that.

Also, the parking structure that MGM promised by Excalibur is taking shape as well. This is the one that would be built to help with the parking strains of T-Mobile Arena. Our photog Greg C got the pics:

One would think with all the inconveniences of transformation construction on the property, that rooms would go down in price. Well, we looked at weekend prices from November 4th thru the 6th, top of house rooms run for $189 a night.

  1. Do you know if you can still walk through the Monte Carlo and go up escalators to Aria or if they closed that also?

    1. Those were still open. I don’t think they would cut that off. There will be construction walls everywhere though.

  2. I may walk through the new digs one complete, but I will not be spending a dime in an MGM owned establishment.

  3. Just stayed there in May. Glad we got to enjoy the pool before they tore it out. So sad to see the pool area in a pile of rubble. It was so nice and relaxing. We have some great memories there.

    1. I’m not sure if they’ll make a new pool in that space, hopefully they will have a pool option. I wonder if they’ll lose the lazy river. I hope not, it was on my Vegas Bucket List.

  4. Needed it stayed ther last year rooms disgusting ripped sheets wallpaper peeling off walls so run down

    1. Not surprised, though I heard mixed reviews. When an property knows it’s going to rebrand, they’ll drop maintenance upkeep and put those funds toward renovation costs.

  5. OH, great, just booked there for four nights in November 2016. NO pool. Cannot get out of reservations either. No cancellations.
