Fisherman: My “Vegas Musts”

Vegas Bright reader Fisherman shares his “Vegas Musts.”

No matter what time of year my wife and I visit Las Vegas, our two Vegas MUSTS are breakfast on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi and dinner at Battista’s Hole in the Wall. Mon Ami Gabi has great food and a great view to start off your day. You can have breakfast while watching people hit the Strip while being seated directly across from the Bellagio fountains. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict or Bananas Foster waffles. The side order of sausage links are also the best I’ve ever had!

Battista’s Hole in the Wall is located just off the strip and within walking distance. To me, this place is about the experience just as much as it is the food. Plus, all you can drink house red or white wine is included with your meal! The setting is very old school Italian with pictures covering the walls, and if you are lucky, enough Gordy will be working the floor with his accordion. My meal of choice here is an Italian staple, chicken parmesan. Make sure to get the creamed spinach as a side; you won’t be disappointed.

  1. Good call on Mon Ami Gabi! I actually prefer lunch there over breakfast, but that’s because I have been working my way through the steak menu one at a time. I have never had a bad meal there. If you sign up on their website , they will send a text message every two or three weeks for a free dessert or appetizer. The offer is usually good for a week. I haven’t tried Battista’s yet but I have been thinking about it. I might have to do it next on our trip now that I read your description. Thanks!

  2. I haven’t been to Battista’s in ten years, yet I recognized the accordian guy immediately with one glance at your pic. Nice to see some things in Vegas never change.

  3. Ahh yes…Battista’s, would like to try one day. All these years to Vegas and have not found a good enough spot I would like to try for Italian food except for the Lavo meatball. Haven’t tried Mon Ami but have tried Hexx (the old Sugar Factory on the strip) for bfast and their sausauge has a weird taste. Happy to try Mon Ami next time. Thanks for the musts.

  4. Battistas is a great choice…..I hit it up EVERY Vegas trip…a great old school vibe and some good wine and food. And Gordy is great.
