Ken: My Vegas “Musts”

Podcast Listener and Vegas Bright Reader “Ken” shares his Vegas Musts…

We have been to Vegas almost yearly since 2001 and have several musts, some of which have been retired over the years.

Vegas Musts

Musts that live on:

* Promise that on “this” trip I will do something other than eat and gamble for the entire week.

* Buy a cheap coffee maker at Wal-Mart for morning coffee in the room.

* When staying at Main Street Station, dump the luggage in the room and head right to the Boar’s Head Bar for several cold ones and video poker.

* Stop at Casino Royale for one-dollar Michelobs.

* Play the coin in dollar machines at the Cal.

* Not yet a formal tradition, but doing a Downtown casino crawl consisting of a $20 VP session and one beer at every casino on Fremont St. & The Downtown Grand.

* Stop at South Point for VP and a couple of the Hot dogs from the vending cart.

* One road trip to Red Rock and one to Green Valley for the day.

* Give our leftover snacks, water, and soda to a homeless person on our last day.

* Play $5 at the airport when leaving.

* Swear that next time I go to Vegas, I will do something other than eating and gambling.

Vegas Musts

Retired Musts:

* First night in Vegas: dinner at Billy Bob’s Steakhouse at Sam’s Town for the early bird prime rib special. Unfortunately, they closed Billy Bob’s and replaced it with the Angry Butcher (or as I refer to the new steak house “The Angry Customer” since the prime rib special is no longer offered).

* Try to use every promo coupon on the coupon sheet at Casino Royale.

* Several trips to the Golden Gate snack bar for the little shrimp. I just can’t get into sitting at Dupar’s so now I skip it.

* Session at my favorite 9-6 JOB quarter machine at the Fremont. The machine was removed a couple of years ago.

  1. Love how you started and ended the article with Swear that next time I go to Vegas, I will do something other than eating and gambling. This a great to the point list. Casino Royale is a great hotel to say @ as well. Lot’s of folks love this Boars Head Bar I see. Giving left overs to the homeless is a good idea.
