Off Strip Stay: Marriott Residence Inn Opens This Month

We check out the construction progress on Marriott’s Residence Inn Las Vegas Airport

Back in September, we posted an article about a new off-Strip lodging option under construction. This week Greg C stopped by to check in on the progress.

This is how it looked in September:

For some the thought of staying off-Strip might be off-putting. It can feel like you’re far away from the action, but for others, not being surrounded by the action can be appealing (I prefer to be surrounded by the action, personally).

The new property is an all-suite hotel featuring 136 rooms, each with separate living and sleeping quarters and a full kitchen. Here’s what they have to say on their website:

“Discover our brand new Residence Inn by Marriott Las Vegas Airport hotel, located minutes from McCarran International Airport on the South Las Vegas Strip. Our Las Vegas hotel allows you to thrive with the comfort and conveniences of home while in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Choose from 131 smoke-free suites with separate living and sleeping areas, including one-bedroom and two-bedroom accommodations. Prepare meals in the convenience of your fully equipped kitchen or take advantage of our complimentary hot breakfast served daily.”

Breakfast isn’t the only thing that’s free; you’ll also get free high-speed internet. Internet: something you’d normally pay for on the Strip. The range of rooms to choose from here are Studio, 1 Bedroom, and Two Bedroom Suites. Here’s some pics, so you know what to expect:

So who would benefit from an off-strip location like this? Well, our very own Greg C put it best. He said “This place would be great if you have your own car and like to be close to the action (about 5-10 minutes to get up to the area around Mandalay Bay by car). And, yet, like to retreat to a semi-rural, relaxed area where you can walk/jog/bike without all the city hassle. There are even horse properties around it. Plus it is brand-new…..nothing beats brand-spanking new.”

  1. Free internet? Are you sure we’re talking about a Las Vegas property here? :-/
