10 Reasons to Love Main Street Station

Blonde4ever shares 10 reasons to love Main Street Station…

There is a lot to love about Main Street Station. I visit this hotel/casino on every trip and here are a few of the reasons why.

1. The decor is gorgeous and unlike any other hotel in Vegas. As you approach the front door, you begin to get an impression of the old world charm that lies within. Stepping inside is like going back in time to the Victorian era complete with stained glass, chandeliers and incredible woodwork. Main Street Station produces a pamphlet that describes all the antiques featured throughout the hotel and casino. Be sure to take the time to wander around and check them all out. Outside of the hotel on Main Street is a rail car used by Buffalo Bill and on the other side of the Pullman room is another rail car once owned by Little Women author Louisa May Alcott. A piece of the Berlin wall is featured in the men’s washroom.

2. There is no Resort Fee; none of the downtown Boyd properties have one. That fact alone makes them much more appealing to me.

3. The rooms are cozy and the mattresses comfortable. While you may encounter some noise from the trains or the highway, I have never found it particularly disturbing. A good pair of earplugs works wonders.

4. There is a fridge in every room; all hotels should have this, particularly hotels in the middle of deserts. Coming back to your room to some chilled beverages after a day of sight-seeing is a real treat, and it is more convenient to have an appliance to chill them for you and not to have to do the cooler/ice cubes routine.

5. The staff is amazingly friendly. It says something about an establishment when you return year after year and see the same faces. It must be a good place to work, and the contentment of the employees gets passed along to the customers. Thumbs up for happy staff!

6. I love their buffet and the room it is in. I have been coming here for years and always have a great meal. If you can’t find something good to eat at this buffet, then you are just way too fussy; plus this is the only buffet I know of that has pecan pie!

7. Triple 777 Microbrewery and Restaurant is an awesome place to visit when you are thirsty, hungry, or both. Their prices are very reasonable, and their food is scrumptious, especially the quesadillas! I am not a big beer fan, but I have many friends who are and who love their six varieties of hand-crafted beers.

8. Boar’s Head bar is a great place to try their brewery’s different ales while you play video poker.

9. Main Street Station has my favorite kind of video poker machines, Loose Deuces. This game is getting harder to locate, so I always make sure to find the time to play it here.

10. As with any downtown property, a few hours of concentrated play will earn you some valuable comps and future offers. These offers are what make my Vegas trips possible!

Main Street Station should be on everyone’s “Must Visit” list when they come downtown!

  1. I was going to write this exact article! Lol. What an excellent overview of MSS. I am staying there this summer, having been there a few months’ back. The $1.75 craft beers at the Casino bar are ridiculously good, comparable to $8-9 craft pints in Canada.

  2. Love, love, love MSS. It has been my home base for the last 10 years or so. I am so over the mega-resorts and this place suits our needs perfectly. I love everyone there from the valet guys to the front desk staff to the waiters and most importantly the dealers. I hope to get back there soon.

  3. Don’t forget the scratch-off tickets for any four-of-a-kind or higher hands while playing video poker. That should make anyone’s top ten list.

The staff are definitely the friendliest you’ll find in any casino.

  4. My Main reason for the Main Street??? Manuel at the breakfast buffet, his entertainment while cooking makes it all worthwhile

  5. Could not agree more. 777 has had some of the same bartenders for years. Even if you visit only yearly, they know you by name. My son and I usually make it the last stop nightly before turning in.

  6. Yes…it’s still my favourite place Downtown, if I am travelling solo. Just a nice, safe and comfortable vibe, and as you mentioned, wonderful, friendly employees who can’t do enough for the guests and visitors! And, the fact that it does not have a resort fee? Perfection!

  7. It’s well worth making the side trip to MSS just to see the architecture. Spend more time for the games, friendly staff, beer, food, etc.

  8. thanks for the “10 reasons” series. keep ’em comin. I have not stayed there in a long time, but I have been staying a few nights a year at the Fremont, and maybe back to the Cal after remodel. I like seeing familiar faces as well. back in the spring I visited 777 during happy hour, I ordered the fried green beans, they were greasy but good, and enough for 3-4 people. I was alone. the buck-75 beers are great as well. if I never hear about the Berlin wall piece again, I will be alright. most all of the downtown joints still have the classic Vegas feel. I hope that lasts forever.

  9. I love the Main Street and have stayed there often. As you probably know, it is one of the favorites for those of us from Hawaii. I can wander around the Main Street and California for hours only to bump into a friend, relative or co-worker from Hawaii also visiting. The buffet is kick a$$, especially at breakfast where Manuel is the most entertaining omelet chef in LV. Damn, writing this reminds me that I am overdue for a visit to the “9th island” as we locals call LV.

  10. Had a pit stop here during my stray boots scavenger hunt and had to locate quarters or pennies by check in or something and it was a lot nicer than the other downtown hotels. it was airy and pretty neat. I was impressed.
