Hidden Vegas: Georges Rousse Art at Cosmopolitan Starbucks
Please welcome, former VegasChatter, George Addams to Vegas Bright!
Georges Rousse public art is hidden in plain sight at Cosmopolitan Starbucks.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has its secret pizza place. Rose.Rabbit.Lie had a show so secret that it went out of business. And now the Cosmopolitan has installed a vast public art feature in its new Starbucks, which you may never know was even there unless you know to look for it.
French artist Georges Rousse was commissioned to use the large area inside the brand new Starbucks (in the front of the Cosmopolitan) as his canvas, to make large public art. If you just happen to be walking by, and you don’t know what to look for, it appears to be a random series of angles and colors on the wall above the baristas.
But if you know the secret, you can see the artwork pop to life.
The secret is to find the circle on the floor over in the corner. It brings to mind the look of a colorful manhole cover.
Take a look at the picture on the circle. Now, if you look up at the colored artwork on the wall standing from that circle, the 3D artwork comes alive and makes the image that’s the same as on the circle on the floor.
It’s pretty neat! And while you’re there, you can check out the new and new sports book in the Cosmopolitan, which has been moved to the first floor, right next to the Starbucks.

I never thought I’d go out of my way to visit a Starbucks, but I definitely want to see this in person next time I’m in town.
Great find! I’ll be sure to check it out next time I’m that way.
