Another List of Free Vegas Attractions

Because one could never have enough free Vegas attractions.

Do we really NEED another list of free Vegas attractions? If you are anything like me, you have probably read hundreds of these lists. I have discovered that I tend to forget about some of these free attractions, though, so it is wise to revisit these lists every once in a while, just to refresh your memory.

A great place to start is at the Bellagio. This hotel is a virtual bonanza of free attractions. First and foremost are the fabulous Bellagio fountains; a favorite attraction of anyone who has ever visited Vegas and one that never gets old. Walk inside and look up at the glorious Fiori di Como, the Chihuly glass sculpture on the ceiling of the lobby.

There are also examples of Dale Chihuly’s glass work sprinkled throughout the hotel. Stroll a few more steps and you are in the stunning Bellagio Conservatory. Visitors can drink in the kaleidoscope of colours of the ever-changing floral displays housed there.

Be sure to stop into the Cosmopolitan hotel to see the incredible three-story chandelier that houses three unique bars.

The fire spewing revamped Mirage volcano has been a visitor favorite for many years. If you haven’t seen it recently, it is time to go again. Mirage also boasts a beautiful aquarium behind their check in desk.

Walk to the very back of the Forum Shoppes at Caesars and witness the Fall of Atlantis; a display of fire, water and talking statues. Before you leave the area, walk around the statues and see the huge aquarium in behind.

Free Vegas Attractions

When you visit the Flamingo, be sure to check out the Wildlife Habitat. I bypassed this attraction for many years, but when I visited it, I enjoyed this quiet bit of nature in the midst of such chaos. Relax for a few moments with the waterfalls, birds and fish.

Circus Circus still features World Class Circus Acts. The schedule is on their website.

Chocolate lovers will get a kick out of visiting either the M& M store or Hershey’s Chocolate World, the latter of which features an 800-pound chocolate replica of the Statue of Liberty. These attractions are free as long as you can tear yourself away without purchasing any chocolate treats.

A new attraction nearby is the Bliss Dance Statue in the Park, an area of shops and eateries adjacent to the Monte Carlo.

Most Vegas visitors need to have at least one picture taken with the iconic Vegas sign so be sure to put that on your list of things to do.

The Grand Canal Shoppes in Venetian feature many stores and restaurants as well as a canal with gondolas and singing gondoliers. The public areas of the Venetian are quite spectacular; just walk around and drink it all in. Palazzo, it’s sister property next door, has a gorgeous waterfall and atrium that is always decorated for the season.

Free Vegas Attractions

If you have a car at your disposal, you could take a short drive over to Sam’s Town and see their Mystic Falls Park filled with animatronic animals. The Sunset Stampede Laser Light and Water Show goes off at regular intervals. Another place that is fun to visit by car is the Ethel M Chocolate factory. You can do a brief factory tour and if you are lucky, get a free sample. (P.S. Their chocolate covered caramel apples are amazing!) The Silverton is worth a visit too. They have an 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium that is home to more than 5000 exotic fish.

If you are in the downtown area, you should stop by and see the Hand of Faith at the Golden Nugget, the largest gold nugget in existence. Cross the street to the D and kiss a piece of the legendary Blarney Stone for luck. Have your picture taken for free with a million dollars at Binion’s. If the men in your group have the urge to urinate on something famous, a piece of the Berlin wall resides in the men’s washroom at Main Street Station.

But by far the most fantastic thing to do downtown is to wait until dark and enjoy the Fremont Street Experience. The FSE is an overhead canopy that features a 12.5-million LED display set to music. There are also three permanent stages in the Fremont Street Experience corridor that have live music every night. The party never stops on Fremont Street.

Downtown Las Vegas

Hopefully, I have given you some fun suggestions that will come in handy should the day ever come when you find yourself in Vegas with nothing but lint in your pockets.

  1. You can get to Sam,s town on their free shuttle bus from Harrahs.well worth the visit waterfall amazing.

    1. The shuttle buses to Sam’s Town also run from California and Fremont downtown. Pocket schedules are available at the front desk of each hotel.

  2. ” Cross the street to the D and kiss a piece of the legendary Blarney Stone for luck.” That one I didn’t know about…..thanks something new for me to do downtown.

  3. Is the ‘Hand of Faith’ back at the Golden Nugget now? I thought it was moved to the other Golden Nugget in Laughlin?

  4. I hear there is one displayed in both places and that possibly one is real and one is a replica, but don’t ask me which is which. (This is all hearsay too) ;)

  5. I miss the free shows that would only cost you a drink to watch. Tropicana used to have a Burlesque show that was great and also loved Fat Elvis. Are there any others that you know of?
