Need a High Roller Rescue? LVFD Has Your Back

Late last week, the High Roller got some very public attention from onlookers and tourists when a sight normally unseen at the High Roller was happening right before their very eyes. Some people were shocked, as in broad daylight…the Las Vegas Fire Department conducted rescue training exercises at the High Roller. Ah, you thought this was about the sex thing, didn’t you? The training was designed to assist High Roller patrons with rescue techniques if the wheel stops or becomes unstable.

Although it was announced in various media, many tourists thought something serious may have happened. Strip hotels close to the High Roller told patrons not to be alarmed and explained the training exercises.

Personally, I’m glad they have a plan in place. I couldn’t imagine being stuck in one of the pods for hours at a time with the uncertainty of rescue.

If this situation does occur, just think of it as getting a bonus thrill experience. Why? Well, you will be cabled up and lowered to the LINQ Promenade in a harness. So it’s kind of like the Stratosphere Skyjump experience, kinda. Just think of the awesome selfies you’ll get to take on the way down. Then again, what one might consider a fun thrill on the High Roller is subjective, cause you know, the sex thing.

  1. It’s worth noting that a full evacuation would take 2 entire days. Each pod is equipped with a portable toilet, bottled water, sun shades and emergency ventilation systems. Even so, the rare but possible scenario of being trapped in a sky-high pod in the intense desert heat for 48 hours, especially during an earthquake or fire, is enough to keep me off this attraction permanently.
