Our List: Las Vegas’ Most in Need of a Revamp

Looking ahead to 2016, we asked our writers and contributors on the Show, Restaurant or Resort that is most in need of a revamp. No options were given to ensure that our writers wrote freely. Here’s what they said…

Las Vegas’ Most in Need of a Revamp

Coronado Cafe at South Point. The food is decent, but they have so many options (at a property that already has about a dozen restaurants). They need to reduce their menu so that they serve better food more quickly. The layout looks dated, too.

I think Circus Circus needs to by revamped DESPERATELY!

Circus Circus is in desperate need of a makeover. I know it’s still a family-friendly hotel, but it needs some renovations and updates.

Jubilee…but even the revamp could not save it.
– BLONDE4EVER

Palms, Harrah’s, Flamingo,  all can do with a re-do.

– PAPERPOSTER

Tropicana needs to seriously re-think their whole resort (and ditch the all-white paint scheme, blah)

Masquerade Village at Rio With the closure of Show In The Sky, Martorano’s Italian Restaurant and Village Seafood Buffet, Masquerade Village is a sad shell of its former self. An empty stage and show set, ceiling tracks from the aerial floats, covered-up McFadden’s Irish Pub and shuttered shop fronts are constant reminders of what Masquerade Village used to be. Hopefully, the coming Rock of Ages–and perhaps Bourbon Room–might breathe new life into this sad echo chamber.

Honestly, Bally’s Grand Bazaar can use a revamp, or a bulldozer, or at the least a re-imagining of the space. I walked around Bally’s Grand Bazaar with the purpose of counting the empty shops. I stopped counting at around the 37th empty shop. I got distracted by hoverboards. Thirty-seven empty shops (at least). They each had “Something Exciting Coming Soon!” and right underneath was the telling “Call our rental office for rates.” Perhaps Bally’s PR should try some honesty: “We don’t know what the F#@$ is gonna be here, but we sure hope it’s something!”

  1. It blows my mind why Bally’s didn’t just revamp the historic walkway and leave the open area alone….IMO, this is one of the most EPIC fails is Vegas history.

    1. Every square inch has to make money. The rooms, the gaming floor, the shopping areas, every square inch

  2. Hilarious Perhaps Bally’s PR should try some honesty: “We don’t know what the F#@$ is gonna be here, but we sure hope it’s something!”

Trop was the first hotel I stayed in about 6 years ago and got a suite when I emailed the team cause I was afraid about the one pic of bed bugs on saw on trip advisor. It’s been home to me until I fell in love with the Mirage haha. Either way I really like the hotel. Never been to circus but the pics on line keep me away. Agreed on Bally’s run way. They need a Palms Annex on the strip. I really like the Palms. Make Ghostbar bigger but I I guess you cant since its the size of the hotel. Ghostbar is REALLY fun!!!

  3. the rooms at the Fremont really need a makeover, and not just some cheap makeup. on the subject of Tropicana, many years ago I stayed there and it was about the worst hotel stay for me ever, dirty and dilapidated. and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. I have not been in that place ever since, casino or hotel. I am sure it is much nicer now but I rarely go to the strip these days.

  4. Flamingo is, to me, the property in most dire need of a revamp. They’ve done a little, but that is a good asset that has been left way, way too long without enough capex. The floor is disgusting, they didn’t pay to put a bathroom in the margaritaville casino, the restaurants are uniformally terrible, the elevators look like crime scenes, and the room revamp there about 5 years ago was the cheapest thing imaginable – they didn’t even touch the bathrooms. It’s almost a crime what they have done to that property.

MLife may drive me crazy sometimes, but they would never, ever let a midstrip property look as bad as the Flamingo does right now.

I would add Caesars low level rooms (which they are fixing) – in general, that property provides very poor value for customers, and the rooms are a great example of that.

To the person who said Harrahs – I think with the food hall and the room revamp that place is ok. They can’t do anything about the low ceiling so it’s never going to look awesome.
