The Biggest Vegas Letdowns of 2015

Editor’s note: We’ve asked our writers and contributors for their opinions on the best/worst and noteworthy of all things Vegas for 2015 if they had time. Unlike other sites, a list of options to choose from was not given. Instead, a list of categories was presented letting our staff write their answers freely.

The Biggest Vegas Letdowns of 2015

Lack of party atmosphere on Super Bowl Weekend. I had gone with one set of buddies in 2006, and the Strip was a big party the night before and the day of the game. I took different friends this past February and kept pumping up the electric atmosphere. In fact, the entire Strip seemed subdued, and Fremont Street seemed LESS crowded than a random fall weekend.

I did not enjoy the Shark Tank at MB. I walked 40 miles for 15 minutes of entertainment.
– BLONDE4EVER

Cirque is over-hyped, and bottle service. Also the closing of Vegas Nocturne at Cosmo. And, mLife taking away express comps from table players was the worst move ever.
– PAPERPOSTER

No Winter in Venice at the Venetian. I understand that secretly buying a major Vegas publication may have set Shelly back, but come on.

The Mayweather/Pacquiao fight! Terrible fighting and was completely overrated
– GREG BENNETT

Resorts World construction moving at snail’s pace

Mat Franco: Magic Reinvented Nightly. All the publicity in the world, can’t help a new headliner if the material is dull and pedestrian. Mat Franco’s show at Linq Hotel is just that. It desperately lacks the “wow factor” and is in need of some serious retooling if Mat plans to call Vegas home for more than a short period.

  1. Besides the May-Pac fight (which, honestly, wouldve never lived up to the hype leading up to it), Id say Encore Players Club. For a resort that prides itself on beauty and taking the lead in all things vegas, this place is;
    a.) quite ugly and lazily planned. gee, lets take out some slot machines, put in a couch, and call it a “club”.
    b.) looks completely out of place. They didnt even bother putting up walls, just a velvet rope in the corner of the floor.
    c.) reeks of desperation and without vision. Whoever thought of this clearly saw the crowds Lavo Casino was bringing in and said ‘we need one of those, quick.’

    Sad to see Wynn/Encore slowly falling behind.

  2. Rock In Rio. Hands down one of the worst concert experiences.

    Biggest takeaway I had: Never pay to see John Legend or Bruno Mars live.
