A Very Vegas Christmas: The Ice Rink at Cosmopolitan

The Ice Rink at Cosmopolitan welcomes your triple salchows.

Welcome to the third installment of A Very Vegas Christmas, in this installment, we’re looking at The Ice Rink at Cosmopolitan. While ice skating isn’t necessarily a Christmas thing, it’s one of the things that makes me think of Christmas. Being raised in New York City (Brooklyn, to be exact), I’d get a warm feeling in my heart when they would ready the rink at Rockefeller Center. It meant a huge Christmas tree, ice skating, and Christmas was just around the corner. I have only ice skated once. I thought I would be a natural, but I didn’t land any triple axels. I did land a twisted ankle. Enough about me.

The ice skating rink at the Cosmopolitan opened last month welcoming many a skater from novice to pro alike.

Hosted on the 4th floor at the Blvd Pool is the Ice Rink at Cosmopolitan. This is the only place you can skate on the strip this year, as Caesars Chalet isn’t happening, and neither is Winter in Venice. Maybe three rinks on the strip were too much, if only Walgreen’s would catch on (HA, I went there). Per the Cosmopolitan Rink’s site:

The Cosmopolitan transforms the Boulevard Pool into The Ice Rink, a winter wonderland overlooking the heart of The Strip. High above Las Vegas Boulevard, guests can enjoy the brisk outdoors, fire pits, s‘mores, warm cocktails and more as they skate on real ice with family and friends. The Ice Rink will feature an experience very rare to the Las Vegas Strip – snow showers. Here, breathtaking views and a playful atmosphere come together to create the most original luxury winter retreat in Las Vegas.

The firepits and heaters do a good job at keeping you toasty when you’re not on the rink.

Also, from 6 pm to 10 pm you can experience snow showers while you skate. The Ice Rink at Cosmopolitan runs through January 3rd, so lace up and get your blades on before it’s too late! Prices and hours are at their site.

  1. Went there two weeks ago with a group. It was a lot of fun! The drinks and snacks (especially the PBJ) were delicious. Keep in mind, however, if you’d like to reserve a fire pit, it’s a $150 minimum charge, which can be used for skate rentals, drinks etc.

    1. I’m surprised about the charge to reserve a fire pit. I went there on a Saturday night and no one was at the fire pits, everyone was in the rink. When folks were done skating, they’d walk to a fire pit to change into their shoes, and then leave. I’d probably take my chances by not reserving one ahead of time and just seeing how busy it is when I get there. Thanks for the tip, Kyle!
