Whiskey Down Pianos Up at MGM’s Rouge

Whiskey Down’s dueling pianos have gone Rouge. Our inside man, @paperposter, informed us that the former dueling piano feature that had a short stay at Whiskey Down has recently turned up at MGM’s Rouge. As their advert put it “Dueling Pianos – One Pianist is Never Enough.”

Look, folks, no cover!

I disagree (as a pianist) but “the more the merrier” as they say. In fact, not too long ago at the Venetian there was an ebony and ivory three way:

The Rouge Bar seems up for the fun of dueling pianos and that’s a good thing, but what else can one expect at Rouge Bar?

A visit to their website describes Rouge:

“Discover a whole new shade of cool at Rouge. With sleek chrome accents and Ferrari Red furnishings, this bar and hotspot offers a place where you can quench more than your thirst.  Rouge is a whole new shade of cool. Settle into a cool leather sofa or pull up to the bar and enjoy a sultry atmosphere where lounge servers deliver unrivaled cocktails.”

Non-Corporate reviews say things like “pricey drinks”, “good martinis” and “flavored ice cubes”. Flavored ice cubes? Chillingly refreshing. With the feel of a lounge atmosphere and lack of gaming tables, Rouge might be a better fit for the Dueling Pianos to be successful. Whiskey Down’s version probably annoyed the blackjack players who were in close proximity. Who knows? Maybe Rouge’s dueling pianos will last longer than three months they survived at Whiskey Down. As with anything in Las Vegas, only time will tell.

A peek at Rouge’s menu shows drinks in the $12 to $15 dollar range, and of course, there’s bottle service. Bottle Service: because even though you can get Johnny Walker Black Label at Bevmo for $40, there’s something especially satisfying about spending $350.
