Trip Report: Blonde4ever’s Perfect Halloween 2016 Trip – Part 7
Blonde4ever shares part 7 of her Halloween 2016 Trip Report…
Sunday was Meet Day!
A bunch of the Vegas-lovers who frequent the forum LasVegas4ever.com were getting together at Hennessy’s bar in downtown Vegas for the “Zombie Apocalypse Meet” that afternoon. I try to encourage the members to dress up for these Halloween meets but I understand that it is hard when you have to fly with a costume. I bought a mask from home and so did Kodi so at least we were partially dressed up. The best-dressed person by far was the one and only Scott Roeben of VitalVegas.com and Fremont Street Experience. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw him! Also present was Mr. Royal Flusher of Royalflushervegas.com but he was traveling incognito so he isn’t in the pictures.
Our meet was in the afternoon so we had time to kill. We decided to use some of my Las Vegas Advisor coupons and walked over to Main Street Station for a two-for-one buffet for our first meal of the day. Their brunch was delicious as always. My complete report on their buffet is here. Then we returned to our hotel and went for a dip in the pool. The Plaza has put in a new pool and completely renovated the entire pool deck. I love it and the whole area. Even though it was a cool day we were still comfortable because the pool was heated. I could have spent hours there but it was time to get ready for the meet.
I did not put my mask on until I reached Hennessy’s, but Kodi insisted on wearing hers for the walk down Fremont. She couldn’t see where she was going and I was afraid she was going to break her neck so I had her hold my arm all the way there; too bad no one got a picture of that.
I have been having meets at Hennessy’s for years and they had always allowed us to use their private back room for free, but this year they wanted $500 for it so of course, that couldn’t happen. I agreed to hold the meet in the main bar but that did not work out well. We were smashed in too close together. You could not get up and walk around and mingle like you could in the private room. The cashiers had a station right where we were sitting and we kept getting in their way. And most annoying of all an entertainer began singing which meant we could not even hear each other to chat. I won’t be holding any more meets there I am afraid. There was a good turnout for the meet and it was lots of fun, but not having the private room was a HUGE inconvenience. Next year’s Halloween meet will be held on October 30 at a private room in the Plaza.
When the meet was over Kodi and I had planned to use another LVA coupon and try Siegel’s at the El Cortez. We had not eaten there since the old cafe closed.
We ran into board member, Stephanie, on the steps outside and asked if she would like to join us for dinner. She agreed and we all had fun getting to know each other better. She even treated us to dinner. Thank you, Stephanie! Our food was somewhat underwhelming, but I don’t judge a place on just one meal. I will have to return to Siegel’s and try them again.
After eating we took a stroll down Fremont, drinking in the lights and sounds of our favorite city.
We took our leave of Stephanie and returned to the Plaza to play Video Poker again. I got the deuces again and had some good hands on Double Double. There is nothing I love more than sitting down to a video poker session with a reasonable expectation of hitting some decent hands. That seems to occur with more frequency when you spend time downtown in my opinion. We whiled the night away enjoying Wonder Boogie, cocktails, and our games.
To Be Continued next week…..

I tried Siegel’s for the first time earlier this month. I had the pot roast special $11 on Thursday. it was good and a generous portion of meat. I don’t normally eat a lot of plain white bread. I must have been hungry or the dinner rolls were really good. I had to ask for seconds on the dinner rolls.
