Vegas Musts

Brit Andy B. Shares his Gun-Slingin’ Car -Racin’ Vegas Musts

Andy B. travels across the pond to enjoy his Vegas Musts…

My 1st Vegas must is planning – as my friend and I only visit Vegas every couple of years; it makes sense to pack in as much as we can during our ten days in this amazing place! To help with this, we have a massive spreadsheet that we use to plan our trip around (because as everybody knows, spreadsheets make everything better!) full of all the things we want to do/restaurants we want to eat at, etc. It also doubles as a countdown until our next trip (at time of writing, only 158 days to go!)

As its an 11 hour flight for us, with a 7 hour time difference, by the time we land and get to the hotel we are usually exhausted and have a well-earned sleep!

Unfortunately, this means we tend to wake up at 3 am with our bodies thinking it’s nearly lunchtime so we have a little walk around the hotel, get a Johnny Rockets burger and a beer and generally get our bearings whilst everything is a little quieter.

Next up is doing activities that we just can’t do at home. So far this includes lots of shooting at various ranges (and I’m looking forward to trying a Barrett 50cal on our next trip). driving a NASCAR at the Richard Petty experience, doing the American muscle car challenge at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and my all time favourite, racing around the short course in a trophy truck at Vegas Off Road Experience.

After all that high octane fun it’s nice to relax, get dressed up and go for an afternoon tea at the Bellagio (not that I want to conform to any stereotypes, but it is nice to have a decent cup of tea whilst on vacation).

Our final must (and this goes without saying, I’m pretty sure its the law that everyone has to eat here whenever they come into Vegas) is breakfast at the Peppermill.

Many other people have written about it far more eloquently than I ever could, but the food is amazing, and the atmosphere of the place makes me wish I could have been around to see ‘old’ Vegas at its peak.

Other honourable mentions include Hash House A Go Go and Guy Fieri’s kitchen at the Linq. Also, Hussong’s Mexican Cantina – especially on a Friday or a Saturday when the mariachi band is playing.

  1. Great review! As a fellow Brit, I know all about the time difference, I try to ignore it as much as possible, check into the hotel dump my stuff in my room and go straight out. Totally agree with your choice of the Peppermill, great cocktails, great food and huge portions!

  2. Fun stuff! What caught my attention was “during our ten days in this amazing place”. Ahhh, to be able to spend 10 days in Vegas. That is my dream come true.
