Sh*t You May Have Missed

Sh*t You May Have Missed: Fremont Street Free Concert Line Up, Lucky Dragon finds money, Resorts World to ramp up, LV Monorail to Expand…and more

Hi, all….seems to be a little bit of a news lull…in the meantime here are some items of interest for you.

First a word from our Chief Editor about the name change…

The Vegas Bright News Blast is now Sh*t You May Have Missed. It will carry on a tradition from VegasChatter but with a new take as our version of Sh*t keeps you up to speed on Vegas news from everywhere in addition to our daily stories. I wanted to have something like this for a while, and it just took the right person with a nose for news to come along and add this new feature to Vegas Bright. Thanks, BigAzMarty! -Michael Movestro

You’re welcome!

And now, Sh*t You May Have Missed…

1. Steve has an idea for the “Tom Sawyer” island in the middle of the newly announced lagoon.  He calls it “Fantasy Island“…I can hear it now…”Boss, de plane de plane!!!”

2. Flamingo is doing another $100M complete renovation for 75th Anniversary to be complete in 2021.  Will start after Caesars is finished with 50th Anniversary.  Guess FAB rooms and limited hours on buffet, restaurants, questionable Diamond Lounge, Sports Book that is more a cubby behind some VP machines all need some rework….my wife could have told them that…she started to avoid this property last year like she used to avoid the old Imperial Palace.

3. Wait for it…wait for it…Resorts World to start to ramp up activity in the dirt that was Echelon Place by summer to the end of 2016…now starting to state a later end time for phase 1 – 2019?

4. Hard rock to get a little harder?  Magic Mike Las Vegas show to play at Hard Rock.  I still remember back in the youthful day when my friends would hang out at the bar waiting around for the ladies to get out of these shows, to see if they could get some action. Though, I never actually heard or saw of any permanent hook-ups (i.e., dates after those excursions). So I guess it wasn’t worth their time as they didn’t bring it up again after about two months of trying.  Me? I was usually working overtime and too exhausted to attend… the life of a computer guy and all.

5. Gold Spike to give away two night stay in Real World Las Vegas suite….5,000 sq ft and a communal bathroom?  Kinky or Ewwww…you decide.

6. LV Monorail is planning to use interest earned funds to extend monorail to Mandalay Bay.  Not sure if they will use existing tramline that is free or if they need to work on west side more. There are two free trams there (Mandalay Bay/Luxor/Excaliber and then Monte Carlo / Crystals Mall / Bellagio)….connect that and you have tram service to NYNY and the T-Mob arena as well.

7. Per twitter feed from Vital Vegas and now full article on their site….Twisted Vegas show at WestGate has shuttered.

8. Caesars now not under lawsuit shield from creditor and bondholder lawsuits…oops forgot to ask for that again says bankrupt unit.

9. Las Vegas casino revenue down again….see maybe not gouging gamblers (i.e. return 3/2 BJ at all tables, and improved odds on VP will get you more gamblers).

10. Interesting story on Carl Icahn…who has repeatedly dipped into the Las Vegas casino pool time and time again.  $2B from Apple and 650M from maybe Fontainebleau that’s a nice cash outlay for some “distressed” casinos in LV.  Almost wish he’d finish the Fontainebleau and swap the property with Penn for Tropicana so that Tropicana Entertainment would all be whole again. But hey he’s a flipper, not a builder.

11. Wait for it…wait for it…The Lucky Dragon found some money, AND will complete the project, AND open at the end of this year.

12. MGM Resorts talked earnings, so did Wynn.

13. The LINQ Hotel is offering…bunk beds.

14. Mike from Vegas Insight remembers The Riviera.

6. Greg C shares Riviera videos: Closing night, all the lights, all that beautiful neon.

7. Watching the amazement that is a Bellagio Conservatory changeout.

8. One (or five) of the things that set the T-Mobile Arena apart are its various lounges.

9. What you’ll find on a stroll through MGM’s The Park Las Vegas

10. A review of The Still. For drinks, The Still impresses. For food, still unimpressed.
