New Themed Resort

A Brand New Themed Resort is Coming to the Strip

Announcement of the new themed resort is coming…

The source of our recent article about the Origins of Luxor has revealed to Vegas Bright, exclusively, that an announcement of a brand new themed resort on the Vegas strip, will take place in coming weeks.

This same source is working closely with the project, and more details will be announced soon. I have seen a very early rendering, and I can tell you that it is very impressive. However, I can’t tell you about any of its specifics, yet. You can expect all the details and final renderings soon, right here at Vegas Bright.

Themes have been making a comeback as of late, from Resorts World to Lucky Dragon (both, I was told, will ramp up construction in a few months). This shift back to themed resorts is one of the reasons another new destination resort may soon find its way to Las Vegas. Though Las Vegas’s new architecture is sophisticated, it lacks some of the creativity and originality that helped to attract new visitors.

It was because of this creativity in the 90’s that Las Vegas tourism had surged. Many who could never travel the world to exotic locations would often decide to visit Las Vegas to experience the ancient cities of Luxor, Rome, Paris, Venice and the like. These hotels were the work of visionaries and these visionaries (architects) seemed to have disappeared (but for a few) along with their insight into how to best design hotels that would appeal to the masses.

The yet-to-be-announced resort is not only intended for those who gamble, but will also include attractions and experiences away from all the gaming facilities. It will greet all visitors traveling to Las Vegas with open arms. This is the concept of an architect/engineer/creative, an ‘imagineer’, the very same ‘Mr. L’ who inspired the design of the Luxor with his designs of a project in Sinai, Egypt in 1987.

  1. So glad that themed resorts are still the way forward, I kind of went off Vegas (briefly) when they built that monstrosity in the middle of the Strip (CityCenter) then followed it up by turning a Vegas icon into a characterless office block (SLS). That is my personal opinion anyway. Themed resorts such as Excalibur, Luxor and NYNY scream “FUN” to me! I want to come home to England and tell my friends I stayed in a massive pyramid, or a medieval castle or a miniature Manhatten. To me, Vegas is one big visual party!!

    1. I have no idea why you would want to go to Vegas and stay in a little Manhattan or a massive pyramid, when living in England you are actually closer to the real thing than Vegas (11 hours).. Manhattan at 6 hours.. Egypt.. 4 hours, by air…and doesn’t France have medieval castles? I would prefer the more luxurious and superior-branded casinos like the Wynn property.. something a little bit more timeless..I like when an owner actually cares about interiors and design.. and isn’t afraid to have a flower decorating budget.. I avoid the themed casinos.. gimmicks..and a lot of them don’t age well at all…

  2. Vegas is land for dreamers. I hope that new projects bring with them economic resources and strong management teams to make them a success.

And tell us… Could you advance the location? South or North Strip?

  3. I am very happy with this news. I prefer to see themed hotels in Vegas. For this, I come to Las Vegas. I am very curious what it is and who the owners are of this new project.

LasVegasNic from the Netherlands and I Love Las Vegas :-)

  4. Interested in knowing the location and the developers of this project. I have been waiting for ANY news to come from resorts world. That project is moving at a snails pace, if that.

  5. I can appreciate an Aria, which is modern and not themed, but there is something fun about NYNY, Excalibur, Mirage, etc.

Look at the de-themed Monte Carlo…there’s nothing memorable, nothing to go home and tell your friends about. There’s something to be said for being unique as a marketing point.

  6. Please please please be on the east side of the strip between Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand!!! Probably the worst stretch of the strip and the land did just sell recently didn’t it..land about size of NYNY in acreage? Maybe they could theme it as Atlantis!!! Re-open the Shark Club…that was in the same area (Behind TravelLodge where Marriot Grand is) and was awesome.

      1. If I remember that land that sold was from the corner of Harmon and Lv. Blv. S. (Harley Davidson Cafe and Travel Lodge motel) and down the strip to Smith and Wollinski’s (including the Hawaiian Marketplace)..it does not include the Polo Towers so that would kind of demarc the east bound side to in front of the Polo Towers and Marriott.

      2. More exactly, between Showcase Mall and Polo Towers. There are small shops but behind them there’s only huge parking lots, space enough for a hotel the size of NYNY. Now, if they were to buy Polo Towers and implode it then you have all the space between Showecase Mall and PH, enough area for a hotel the size of Aria.

  7. i HEAR THAT THEY Were Going to change the Monte Carlo name but they didn’t same what the new name was going to be.

    1. They are, they will, but it’s unrelated to this article. We published an update to this yesterday, it’s a Mayan themed resort on the North side of the strip.
